Crazy Bahamas House setup

I just finished up a crazy Bahamas house. This had a large Z-Wave installation requirement. I needed to have have a switch that had different colored side LEDS depending on the room. There is a Blue Room with Blue switch LEDs, a Green nature room with Green switch LEDs, a pink/magenta room with Magenta switch LEDs, a water themed room with Aqua switch LEDs and a yellow room with yellow switch LEDs. I am referring to the LEDs on the side of the switch. I went with Homeseer WD200 switches. For the rest of the house and lamps I went with Lutron Caseta with a Hub Pro.

Once I arrived I fired up my Hubitat and the Zigbee radio was not working. I was not going to use Zigbee in this phase so I decided to shut off Zigbee and replace the Hubitat hub in November on my return. I made sure to sign up for the backup/remote access package and I will report on what happens with the Hub swap/restore (z-wave included).

I used my trick "moving the Hubitat around the home while including Z-wave devices". I used the repair Z-wave feature when I completed every area. I also positioned the hub in the center of the home so that it can communicate directly with many of the devices. When adding devices I always use >>>>>NO SECURITY<<<<<<.

The driver for the Homeseer WD200 was lacking. It did not allow for color changes. I switched to a different Homeseer switch driver, changed the color and then switched back to the WD200 driver. Maybe the Hubitat guys might consider fixing this driver in the future? I also added a couple of Homeseer Z-wave motion sensors.

To my surprise it turned out to be pretty reliable. I did try to keep the Z-wave devices as close to the hub as possible and use the Lutron switches whenever it is possible. I did have an issue with Z-wave devices not showing up in “Z-wave details” even though the Z-wave devices all worked. A simple shutdown and power cycle solved the issue.

they dont seem to say what chipset on their website are they 500 or 700 series?
the wx200 series seems to be the 700 series chipset.. newer. so i assume the older wd are 500?

They are cool switches.

They 500 series switches. I have had issues with 700 series switches (different brand).

Did your customer know you were putting in equipment that you weren't sure would work reliably?

LOL. Just kidding (mostly).

It worked well when I tested them. Still a little afraid of Z-wave

The customer wants a crazy house so he has to expect crazy switches

Here is the next stage of the project in November.

Post lights are being installed on the doc in addition to the existing outside lights.
The customer wants the the color of the outside lights to change based on the room switch that is pressed (Blue room pressed - outside lights turn blue). I am going to use INNR Zigbee bulbs to achieve this.
-an automatic router reboot if Internet is down
-Switch the hubs and copy over the present hub, using the Hubitat Cloud backup service.
-Bring a cold spare hub so that I always have one extra available locally.
-Remove the remaining Insteon switches and replace them with Lutron Caseta switches (mostly cottage and motion controlled powder room and hall).
-Install some Lutron Caseta Motions in hall and power rooms and Zigbee motions outside and in Foyer (multiple motions in both locations).

Then the house will be ready for him to come back from Britain with his new English girl friend
