Could we add a "Swap" section in the community

I am sure that this will evoke some discussion, hopefully nobody will get "ugly". But it occurred to me the other day that it would be nice to have a "swap" section in the community where people could post automation related things that they want to sell/trade. I know that this could cause some concerns but I was thinking not a place that the sale actually happens but just a place to say " I have some ??? door contacts available if anybody is interested", that kind of thing. Then the person could PM the other person and arrange the sale offline. Obviously the moderators would have to set some rules to keep it from getting out of hand but it's a thought.

I was thinking this same thing the other day when I was admiring the stack of GE switches I have pulled out of my old house but can't use in my new thanks to the lack of Neutrals. Trying to sell them on eBay is just not worth the hassle, and I'm not going to toss them. I was thinking about a lounge post, but a swap board like the lounge would be nice...

i have seen people use Lounge for this. i don't think it happens frequently enough though to have a swap section.

i have seen people preface their title with [FS] or [For Sale] to indicate it is a sale post though

I'm thinking that if a dedicated section existed more people would participate..... I know that I have some surplus stuff that I could post that may benefit somebody

For sure, i wouldn't mind having a swap section either. I have a ton of old wemo stuff I'm too lazy to throw on ebay right now, lol. Although i do think i posted it in lounge, but got no traction on it. If there was a sale section, then it wouldn't get buried under other posts

Maybe buy/ sell/ Trade section. I ha e a C4 I'll let go of if anyone is interested.

I vote yes but the forum sales need to be restricted to smart devices.

I have a drawer of perfectly good smart devices collecting dust, but too good to recycle or to give to Goodwill where they have no idea what Zigbee iis

Do staff have the time to manage a sub-category in this way?

there's realistically nothing stopping us from doing it on lounge, so why would they have to manage it? all they have to do is create the sub-channel for us to use as a dedicated swap area

They don’t have to do anything, but if people requesting a dedicated sub-category expect certain rules to apply to it, someone would have to enforce said rules.

IMHO I would just post in the lounge as-is, I don’t think any changes are necessary. It’s possible to add a “for sale” tag to a thread when creating it.
