I'm new to Hubitat (C8) and currently using the IP2IR app to send commands to my cable box to turn it on and off, but want more control......guide, etc.
I can use IP2IR, but that means creating child apps for each command. Is there a better way to do this?
I am not sure how IP2IR works. HTTP Requests i think? If you create a virtual button and give it as many physical buttons as you need, you will be left with only one virtual button device with multiple physical buttons. I think the terminology in this setup is confusing. I think "Button Children" is a better description vs "physical buttons".
You can then create a dashboard with a tile for each physical device. Then, in Rule Machine, you setup the appropriate HTTP Request based on the physical button pushed.
I have a Virtual Button with 30 physical buttons to control my home theater but I use a Broadlink Remote and Node Red.
@stephen_nutt -- Thanks for that info. I'm just getting used to things.....Moving from Vera Edge. That will come in handy.
@rlithgow1 -- Looks like an interesting device. Besides being z-wave, what advantages does this have over the GC100 ( I have 7 GC-100s running at the moment)? Thanks
It can do up to 300 functions at once. I have one on the shelf. I used it with an air conditioner. Works fine with tv's, and pretty much any ir interface. You can add other extended blasters on to it but I find it uncessary.
