The community forum here is one of the most feature filled that i have ever seen. In my case it is to smart for me. I regularly use [ctrl] - F to search large pages or posts for keywords. When i do that here in the community forum it brings up the forum search box. Is there any way to override this function?
If not, what platform is this running on? i can search google for an extension or script to do it locally.
Itβs using Discourse
did you change something? it seems to be working like normal now.
I noticed this too. I would have to click on the browser header and then press ctrl + f to circumvent the forum search.
Doesn't seem to work that way anymore so yay!
Nope, Iβm just a user. (No forum admin privileges).
In the past, the Browser-search could be activated, instead of the Forum-search, depending upon where the focus was when the key-combo were pressed.
If you hit ctl-f a second time it will bring up the browser search. But remember, discourse doesn't load the whole thread on long threads. I'd recommend using the forum search and check the box for "search this topic". That will limit to the current thread.
I found that tip on the discourse forum. I went to test it and low and behold ctrl-f now appears to work normal.
The page load thing makes sense. That is precisely why i like the page search. After reading through a mile long thread it makes it easy to find the posts i need to review.
thanks for the tips though. now i can easily search either way.
