Does anyone have any experience using Hubitat (or ZigBee/Zwave in general) in a commercial environment? Stuff such as motion detection, temperature monitoring, HVAC control, lighting timeouts to save energy, etc.
Commercial use of the hub isn't allowed per the terms and conditions. I suspect you'd find similar restrictions in terms of use of devices.
Interesting.
I have seen some companies create/support devices (Kroger had a Zigbee temperature monitoring system for freezers) but was curious why there wasn't more implementations for things like HVAC controls.
I've seen posts in the past from HE staff indicating that they added device support in part (at least) for "large customers" - sounds we what would think of as a "commercial" cusotmer. But AFAIK, these are customers who purchased and are using HE for their own purposes inside their own business.
I'm not a fan of direct control of any HVAC home or other. My issue is the Hub would have "full authority" over the HVAC. So if something went awry the HVAC heat could stay off for a weekend and pipes might freeze.
My thermostats for heating and A/C can be controlled by my Hubitat Hub, however the thermostats have internal temperature limits. For example my heating cannot be set above 73 °F.
ZigBee HA is not really meant for commercial use. There are plenty of ZigBee systems out there for HVAC and such for large company but they are proprietary ZigBee.
I'm seeing Zigbee 3.0 commercial devices (temperature sensors/thermostats/controllers) all using 3.0 HA style profiles. Maybe that was true with pre 3.0?
