I have a matter switch that when commanded to go off or on does exactly that. But on occasion it doesn't report back that it did. Will the Command Retry option have any affect on that? The switch never fails to function it just doesn't always tell HE it did.
I often have the commands that work but HE is slow, especially with blinds/Locks FLiR devices, to refresh.
I think you will get something like this, harmless.
dev:21262025-10-28 14:28:35.040warnRec Room Window TV command "open()" failed after 5 retries.
Well, harmless in the sense that HE is commanding the endpoint to do the same thing multiple times, and it's already likely in the desired state. A bit less harmless, in that your consuming more bandwidth on the mesh - Which may or may not be problematic for you, in the case of multiple rapid commands to multiple devices (aka commanding a group without a Zigbee broadcast), the repeated commands don't hurt the endpoint, but the mesh being busy to forward around the extra traffic may cause extra ms delay in other messages.
So while this is a bit pendantic - I just don't turn on CR everyone - Just where I have problematic devices, or it's critical that I get device feedback.
YMMV
In this case when the switch gets turned off manually it triggers some other stuff. Come to think of it the CR wouldn’t be of any use since I’m looking for it to be turned off manually. Didn’t think that thru.
It’s not real critical except the wife hollers at me that something else didn’t go off ![]()
