I am needing to do control, alarms, etc. I've already had a couple of situations coming home to a pitch black house. How do I get notifications to my android, yes I have the app, and how do I control from android mobile as well.

Hello, try looking at the dashboard documentation section for hubitat. Dashboards allow control of devices from outside the home via cloud. You can't do any build outside of home, just control
