Does anyone offer a device that can be used as an alarm, like a device to "chirp" or "beep", I need a way to warn renter to close the doors. I would control it with the rule, if doors are open too long, then chip until closed
SD card allows voice etc.
Price is more like 37 bucks.
It'll do what you want.
edit: I have it now set to continuously sound if the smoke detector in the garage goes off. It can be muted by pushing a button twice. This could be useful in case the tenant wanted to leave the door open on purpose, vs unplugging it and bringing It outside, somewhere. ![]()
thanks, but the plan is to hide the device, and make is very hard to unplug, and/or remove, we have a very expensive condo we rent, some renters will open the balcony doors, then we get high humidity alarms, then we disable the air conditioner. However, some just don't care and will leave the doors open just because they can. So we want to add alarm as a reminder.
We have a sign, on the doors to keep doors closed, it's also on the renter contract, it's a known issue with condos on the beach, high moisture from the oceans water damages interior on the condo.
We do have great renter that do care and keep the doors closed, randomly we get the renter who thinks they can do whatever they want because they are paying rent for the condo.
You don't have an alarm system, do you? That could be used.
I'm thinking maybe a voice that says: "please close doors", over and over. So it's not confused with anything else.
Along with a voice, those plug ins can tell you if they've been unplugged since they have batteries.
yes, I like that idea. All we want is for them to close the doors, nothing else, we do not want to ruin their vacations, but the door need to be closed. Maybe we can try the voice route, then if it remains open for extended, time, change from voice to alarm sound, then keep increasing alarms/volumes, over time.
We want to first step to be just a reminder. Because some just forget the door open. Some kids don't close the doors. That's ok, They are kids, we understand
In my case I've had false alarms with spiders from a previous detector. The inside chime/siren didn't have a mute button, as I recall, and I did indeed unplug it once and put it, somewhere, lol.
I THINK you could do all that stuff programmatically with the system driver on the ZSE50 (there is no community driver). Note: I'm currently fooling around with mine, coincidentally. The driver is key.
So huditat does not have a driver yet for the ZSE50?
Yes. The system driver.
yea, I can not have the ZSE50, get stuck alarming, non stop at 2am, that would be a real issue to deal with,
maybe it would be wise, not to use the battery installed, and plug the ZSE50, into another z-wave oultet, just in case it would fail alarming, I could remotely turn off the z-wave outlet to kill the power to the ZSE50. Your thoughts? I'm 5-6 hours away from the condo. I need to make sure I have a fail safe way to disable the alarm if needed
can it still operate without the internal battery?
You'd have to do major surgery. Above my pay grade.
so you cannot replace the internal battery, is it a non removal able lithium pack?
Probably
I just looked in the device's advanced settings. No option to turn off battery.
