Child presence sensor

Does anyone have experience with a device that can be used as a presence sensor for 9 yr old?
Problem is that the house arms when my son and his uncle are at home and my wife and myself have left.
I though perhaps a smart watch (also can double for emergency use to call us) might be able to integrate to Hubitat as a presence sensor if it wasn’t polled to often it might not be to taxing on the battery.
Any one have any ideas?

If you have an Apple hub device (TV, HomePod, HomePod Mini, etc) you can create routines to track an iWatch and pass that information back to Hubitat using a virtual device.

I also have an auto arm automation, but it requires a virtual switch named “guest” to be off and no motion anywhere in my home.

there are lots of ways to skin this cat, but unless your kids are asleep… for the next 4 yrs or so you are almost guaranteed constant motion in your house as long as you have enough motion sensors

My siblings also have their own pin to unlock the door that turns on the guest virtual switch for 24hr on each use. i can also say “Hey automation daemon, turn on guest” and that will stop the auto arm automation.

Great ideas and thanks for the suggestions!
Wondering if there is any driver for MI api or any integration of these Chinese made smart watch with 4g and gps tracking?

Haha yeah. I was also thinking general sound detection or power detection on the PS5. They are either going to be yelling at each other or gaming if you’re not home.

Do they have any Wi-Fi enabled devices that they take with them? Could use the Wi-Fi presence app. (Would also work for any smart watch that has Wi-Fi.)

this is also a good idea, and relatively easy to implement.

Are they always inside?

If so, is start with simple, motion sensors in the areas they frequent used in rules with extended time outs. Have the rule keep presence if there is motion on one of the sensors every 30m, almost certainly a 9 year old is going to keep presence alive. Have two sensors pointing directly at the spot where he and the uncle sit while gaming or watching TV, since they might be still there sometimes.

If that doesn't work, then you could get more to more complicated options...

Is there any ap for presence but doesn’t give them access to Hubitat controls?
He has an iPad
