Is there a way to tell how a Z-wave device is paired? I have about a dozen Leviton DZPD3 and DZ6HD that are no longer displaying a status change in the dashboard if I turn them on/off manually. This used to work.
Since these can be paired as Plus or non-Plus I wondering if there is a way to confirm how they are currently paired with the hub. I am sure I paired them as Plus but since the status is no longer updating I'm questioning myself.
I saw a post in the Smartthings community saying there would be 0x5E in the Clusters for Plus. I do see this for all of the devices but don't know if that just means they are capable of Plus or are actually paired as Plus.
From your reply the chips are all Plus since they show 0x5E. The pairing instructions give two procedures depending if you want to a hub that supports Plus or the older non-Plus hub.
I'm sure I used the Plus pairing instructions but I'm questioning that since the status has stopped updating. Will a Plus device always pair as Plus on a hub that supports it and the non-Plus pairing only applies to older hubs?
It's strange that they used to update the dashboard when turned on/off manually but are no longer updating. I don't see anything in the logs when operating them manually.
yes. At least I'll say that I've never seen a device that had a separate plus vs non-plus inclusion method. Pretty sure that would violate zwave device certification anyway (for what that is worth).
Manually turn on/off and watch the status on the device detail page (not the dashboard). You may need to F5/refresh the page to see the status change (but usually not).
If status changes there, the device pairing/function is fine and there is something going on with the dashboard. If not, you could be having zwave mesh or device issues. 1st attempt there is to power down via the menu, remove power from the hub for 30s, and power back up - then repeat test above.
I tried the first part of what @JasonJoel suggested and the status page does not update. I need to go out now but will try the 2nd part with powering down the hub and removing power when I get home. Hopefully that will fix it.
Everything was working before and all of the devices still work when turned on/off from the dashboard, device page, my minimotes and the Amazon Echo. The only issues is the hub no longer seems to know when they are operated manually and it is affecting all of the devices.
Asking those who know more than I (I have Zero Leviton experience) - Are the Leviton Z-Wave Plus drivers named "Smart" like the GE drivers are? I would think the reporting issue would be as much correct driver selection as it is pairing . . .
I just tried the 2nd part mentioned by @JasonJoel. I shutdown the hub and removed power for about a minute and restarted. I still have the same problem.
The DZPD3 dimmers are using the Generic Z-wave CentralScene Dimmer Driver. The DZ6HD dimmers are using the Leviton DZ6HD Z-Wave Dimmer driver. These were selected by default when they were paired.
The firmware is old so I will look into the process for updating it. I'm a little concerned about making it worse. Everything else is OK now and out of the dozen switches only 2 are usually used manually. I'll need to do it though to fully troubleshoot.
I tried changing one DZPD3 driver from Generic Z-Wave CentralScene Dimmer to Generic Z-Wave Dimmer and Leviton Z-Wave Plus Dimmer (driver code I found and installed months ago).
After using Leviton Z-Wave Plus Dimmer nothing seemed to work. The light on the dimmer was turning on/off showing it was responding but the light did not respond. I eventually changed several properties and got it working again and switched back to Generic Z-Wave CentralScene Dimmer so I am at least back where I started.
I will search for the current firmware code and install it to see if that helps.
