Centralite motion sensor v1

@mike.maxwell on the latest Hubitat Live! you said you couldn’t kill this sensor, and leave it out in the rain. Exactly what I’m looking for. I don’t see any on eBay. Are they repackaged by any other brand? (Iris?)

Sylvania Lightify Smart+ Motion Sensors are almost the same. Just a different battery.
Cannot kill them, fast response, wide angle, and never drop off the network.

Iris never sold these, centralite was the oem, both Smartthings and PEQ sold them at the time they were the hot ticket.

The sensor with the mold growing inside was a Bosch, i cant manage to kill that one either...

$25 - https://www.amazon.com/SYLVANIA-LIGHTIFY-Temperature-SmartThings-Assistant/dp/B01LXPGXQ1/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=lightify+motion+sensor&qid=1559778732&s=gateway&sprefix=lightify+motion&sr=8-3

The Sylvania motion sensor above is probably slightly newer hardware but does share the same OEM, Centralite. To be super-clear, the Live episode mentioned the second-gen (2014) SmartThings motion sensor (besides the Centralite Micro itself), which you can see an example of as one of the devices on: Which SmartThings Motion Sensor model do I have? – SmartThings Support

The similar PEQ looks like it might be available from third-parties on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/PEQ-3305-P-Motion-Sensor-White/dp/B00P8839DY (not as familiar with their line, so I don't know, but it looks a heck of a lot like the v2 ST sensor so probably Centralite, too).

That being said, I've also used an Iris v2 sensor outdoors, and the Sylvania/Lightify sensor above is very similar to (and just a touch uglier than but almost as small as) the Iris ones. It's certainly cheap enough that you could experiment with keeping it outdoors, though I personally wouldn't risk it with any that aren't outdoor-rated unless they were semi-protected an eave or similar. Direct rain might cause problems, and I wouldn't count on motion events working well during the daytime if exposed to much sunlight (you'll probably get excessive false positives--but I only use mine at night and they are OK them). All Centralite underneath, but who knows if they're quite as tolerant as the older ones Mike had.

If you need a bunch this is pretty much the same and it’s not a bad deal

Got it. Smartthings SmartSense 2014 I think?

In the safety precautions..
Do not use this product near water or expose the product to
dripping or splashing of any water or liquid.

You protect your outdoor ones or are they truly braving the elements?

Bosch is an ugly sucker.. and probably can’t get the wife on board with how that looks on the house. I have two spare Iris v2, but I need a little more distance coverage for my driveway.

That is a REALLY nice deal. I love these sensors and use them indoors. For the driveway I need something with more distance..

Hm, what I’m actually trying to do is supplement my Blue Iris/IP camera software motion sensing for the intense shadows that are cast from blowing trees I my driveway. I was hoping PIR could be the answer. Think not?

The Bosch is literally out in the wind, the centralite is on a wall under an eve.

Thanks, maybe Bosch could get stuck on my shed. Not bad with false positives?

Yeah, it's good in that regard.
