Hi all,
I have a cell shade that's actually two shades in one: it can be a blackout shade, a privacy shade, or a mix where the bottom is blackout and the top is privacy (link). I'd like to automate it but it's not motorized. In fact, it doesn't even have cords, you hold handles on the shade itself.
What is the easiest way to automate it? Can I somehow install motors inside the shade, or alternatively does anyone sell a shade like this with a motor? I'm open to ideas.
@user1378 basically one of these

I don't know how I would connect that to my existing shade... Would I need two of them? I was hoping to keep something similar to my existing shade. I like that it's a cell shade (keeps out the cold) and that it has a dual function (partial privacy/ partial blackout), and that the "blackout" part can be on the bottom half only. A roller shade would lose some of that functionality.
Does it use a chain or does it pull down and up? If a chain pull then you want a Zemismart Am43
It's got handles, no visible cords or chains.
I don't think it could be automated then (At least I don't know of anything that could do it) If it were regular blinds I'd tell you an iblinds v3. Can you post a pic?

This is the exact thing I have: Modern Light Filtering Blackout TriShades | SelectBlinds.com
They work well because my bedroom is a few feet below grade, so it's nicer to have the light to come in from the top half of the window, not the bottom.

Yeah I don't know anything that would work with those. Someone else might have some idea but I can't see how it would be done. My blinds are lift like your shade but I can use a motor to tilt not lift
