Was it a party line too? We had to listen to the ring to tell if it was our phone ringing or someone else's
Yup yup, had the same in and around 4th-6th grade. Turned out we shared our line w/a family we knew, and they had a daughter Desiree who even back then I was old enough to desire, so much so that I was willing to play Barbies w/her to be invited over. ![]()
Not ours, we had a private line but my Grandma did, think more of the time they spent on the line was bickering over who’s turn it was vs talking with the far end
Oh man my wife's grandfathers home had a party line up in the hills of West Pennsylvania. The company providing the phone service was GTE aka. Gee Telephones Exist. After a storm would come though they would lose service for days.
Before I was old enough to be answering the phone, I recall my mother saying party line. There was no plug for the phone of any kind. The cord came through a wall plate with a cord sized hole in the center.
