Capturing volume on HomePod

Hi I wanted to capture the volume and state on my HomePod prior to sending a message through it so that I can reset it back to the state it was at before (same volume level and whether it is playing music or not). Unfortunately, don't see the option to capture the state of the HomePod. Is that because it's an app and not a driver?

Not an answer to your question but can you point me to information to get the ability to make announcements on the HomePod? I fooled around with it some and couldn’t get it working. PM me if that’s more appropriate.

It should work if you enable the 'Airplay Integration (beta)' from the 'Add built in apps' link on the apps page. It works for me but there's a bit of a delay before the message comes through that cannot be eliminated (that delay varies from user to user). As an example I just had an alert trigger from one of my cameras; I got the ping on my watch/phone from the Hik-Connect app immediately but the HomePod didn't speak for another 10 seconds. It's a shame as I no longer use Sonos and would happily add more HomePods for that feature alone. I believe there's not much can be done on the Hubitat side to fix that delay.

I have the IKEA speaker that is Sonos compatible working. Thanks for the other info. Somehow I missed the announcement of the Airplay Integration.
