Can't operate Schlage BE469FZ from Dashboard

Hi, I’m using a Schlage BE 469 FZ lock with a C-8 Hubitat running 2.5.0.159. The lock is new and operates correctly (open/close) via the device page. Open and close positions are verified.

However, after using both the generic lock driver and the Schlage lock driver, the lock will not operate from the dashboard (that I created for locks). I chose lock as the intended template/function and put the lock into the dashboard on the lock device page. The icon on the dashboard shows a question mark (?). It looks like I did a rookie misstep, but I can’t figure it out.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I assume you mean you are hitting the Lock and Unlock in the Commands tab, and that is actuating the lock.

Can you verify that the "States" in the upper right corner of the Commands tab reflect the correct values once you lock and unlock? My locks take a second or two to change in the States, but it takes a second.

From there, you definitely have added this to a Dashboard in the Device Info tab?

Didn't want to clutter the posts too much, so posting again. I am making an assumption you are using the older "classic" dashboards, not the newer EZ dash? (Maybe you should try that if you haven't to see if it makes a difference)

Once you have added to a Dashboard in the device's settings, on the actual Dashboard, you have selected the lock in the left Device column, and the Lock template in the middle column? Be sure they are highlighted like in my screenshots, it is sometimes easy to double click or select the wrong device.

Hi, thanks for getting in touch. The problem was indeed with the dashboard creation process. I prefer the legacy version of the dashboard app, but both versions are useful. It looks like I did not create the dashboard properly using my phone app, which I’ll investigate later. I was able to get everything working properly once I started working from my PC. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Next task is figuring out how to apply codes to the locks remotely. Looks like there’s a whole primer section in the documentation.

Use Lock Code Manager.

I am not sure of the FZ version of this lock, but with other variations you have to set the code length on the physical lock first, then you can match that in Hubitat settings. I don't think you can change the code length by just sending a command from Hubitat.

Will do.

Thanks, I’ll keep it in mind.

I had trouble with changing code length on the Z-Wave version. I think you have to change in the driver as well anyway so the driver knows the new code length. So change the code length in lock via keypad sequence, that deletes all prior user codes, then change code length in driver and I think it should work. I say I think because I ripped out my Schlage and switched to Kwikset due to frustration with all the firmware gotchas and work arounds. It was just too much trouble. Kwikset works drama free with LCM.

Thanks. So far, so good, but I am keeping it simple.
