Can't Factory Reset C-8 Hub

Platform Version: 2.5.0.159

A couple of months ago I replaced my C-8 with a C-8 Pro. I did a hub migration to transfer everything from the C-8 to the new hub. Now I’d like to experiment with the old C-8 and I’d like to start fresh with a factory reset. I’ve been trying to do a factory reset through the diagnostic interface but it keeps telling me that I can’t do a reset because I have active subscriptions.

The only subscription I had on the C-8 was hub protect and I transferred the subscription to the C-8 Pro. In fact, if I go to the subscription page, it shows there are no subscriptions for the C-8 and that the hub protect subscription is active on the C-8 Pro.

Any help in how to get the C-8 to understand that it doesn’t have an active subscription so the factory reset process will work would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I’ve done this same thing on several occasions, but never did a full reset. I have always only done a soft reset followed by a reset of each radios (or vice-versa). Then I check to ensure that all Z* devices are gone from the Z-Wave/Zigbee details screens.

Thanks @Sebastien. I tried resetting both radios and manually deleting 100+ devices. Then I tried adding a Matter device and ran into an error. There is a documented solution for resetting matter but, at this point, rather than fighting even more issues I thought that a full reset was the best path forward. Thanks again.

A “full reset” is just a script that does the same steps you can do yourself. (You can skip the de-registration if you do it yourself, though!)

…but if you followed that process and were left with devices, something went wrong. My guess is you maybe didn’t complete the process. Take a look at the “full reset alternatives” linked to here:

Thanks @bertabcd1234 . Looking at this, I didn’t realize, as also @Sebastien included, that a soft reset also did much of what I was looking for a hard reset to do. I’ll give all this a try again.

Thanks again

I ran the whole factory reset procedure. Tomorrow I’ll be able start working with the hub and I’ll report back if any problems arise. Thanks again for all the help
