c8 hub
Platform version
2.3.9.180
so little back story i have had nothing but the worst time getting any zwave to attach for the most part
i started with a aeotec dsd37 range exteder which worked ok but then tried adding my be469nx x2 and my be469zp and all it ever did was create ghosts.
so i blew it all up and started with the locks happily i got them all on line and switched to a members driver for the nx as they never could remain online with out it.
now comes to our current predicament i cant add my zcombo first alert fire alarms
and i cant re add the range extender
locks work great no issues
once in a while i can get the zcombo to exclude but thats it
i have used so many different hubs in the past and i have to say this one is by far the most frustrating. But with most the other hubs it was human error
so what have i tried
rebooting
shutdown wait 30 seconds
shut down wait a few minutes
tried soft reset
factory reset all devices able to exclude the smoke alarm once
tried next to the hub several times and at various distances
i just cant get anything to happen
so tell me what am i doing wrong because its prolly me
so still cant get the z combo added
but i found a zwave motion sensor gave it a try and it worked
then the aeotec repeater worked
its like there is no discernable rhyme or reason when this may or may not work
Can you post your z-wave details page in it's entirety? (use windows snip)
Likely you have some ghosts

You need to remove the ghost for sure. (number 15)

I did and still nothing
Reboot after with rebuild
Then shutdown
Wait 40 seconds
Boot back up
Exclude
Include
And we get another ghost
How are you powering the hub? POE or with the original power supply?
Is your hub near any large metal objects, or stacked on top of something like a router or modem?
Could you move the hub to somewhere else and see if moving it helps?
You could also try to swap the antennas, you could possibly have a bad antenna.

How old are your zcombo first alert fire alarms? I had a couple of older models which were around 5 yrs old and worked perfectly with my Vera controller. When I switched to Hubitat I couldn't get them to pair no matter what I tried. Finally gave up and bought a new one. It paired instantly.
prolly older then 5 years maybe there firmware is behind or something ..... i may order a zwave stick and see if its possible to update
I dont think they have put out any firmware updates.
Post a picture of the sticker(s) on the device with all the info.
Totally forgot about this been busy but here is the serial
See their manufacturer date is Feb 2015 and they are nearing their 10 year life span. You might consider replacing them if you continue to have troubles.
If you have wired detectors and have the 3rd interconnect wire you could use the Zooz Zen55 to integrate them with HE

Yeah thats the old model that people have been having issues with. In that big blank spot near the date mine has a Z-Wave plug logo. Mine is from 2020 and pairs up just fine.
I'm surprised they go as long as 10 years. I thought generally CO's went to 8.
This. The smoke detector is approaching the end of its useable life (independent of any smart features it has). Probably best to just replace it.

Good point. Itβs a combined CO and smoke detector, so itβs only good for the length of the life of the CO sensor, which is actually seven years.
This is noted at the bottom of page six of the manual:

The device is supposed to sound an end-of-life alarm when it reaches that point.
@tdpolo26 you should seriously consider replacing any ZCOMBO devices you own that have been in service for more than seven years. The z-wave radio is pretty useless on its own if the device fails to detect an alarm condition related to CO.
I see that, pic below, but then why a 10-year warranty?
Maybe 7 years is old info?
If the end-of-life chirp isn't coming on yet, perhaps if it still tests ok, it'll work properly...or not, lol.
yeah prolly time
before i spend money wanted to see if these worked and then look at the future models
