Can someone please help me in setting up this samba share?

I just used Mac as an example, I shouldn’t have. I finally got the add on to work. I can connect to the external hdd through samba on iOS and my pc. But I can’t on my android tv. I was wondering if it’s because the hdd is ext4 and the androidtv doesn’t read ext4

Thank you

What did you have to do to make it work? We are curious now.

I want my pi4 to my nvidia shield Plex server

I am not sure what exactly you mean by the above statement...

Are you stating that you have a storage device connected via USB to a RPi4, and would like that storage to be accessible to the AndroidTV box?

Or, are you trying to plug in a USB drive directly into the Nvidia Shield Android TV box? If so, how does the RPi4 factor in?

The 1st one lol

The Android tv would only have to read an ext4 drive if it’s directly connected by usb.

If the ext4 drive is connected by usb to a computer running a samba server (and the hard drive is mounted and has a file system the computer is capable of reading/writing to itself), the Android tv would need a samba client to connect over the LAN to the hard drive.

What does the Android TV need for accessing a "server"? It's probably not CIFS (Samba). Plex? DLNA?

Smb

Smb means Samba., as you said. Is there a user and password setup on the server for the TV box? The Guest account might not be setup for write access. Can you copy a file from MacOS or Windows box to the server?
