Can not add device from Android App 2.0.5

Attempted to add a device using Android App 2.0.5. Got stopped cold stating that "Devices can only be added when hub and mobile are on the same network" I am here to report that indeed they do share the same broadcast domain. However the mobile connects over my WiFi link and the hub C8-Pro, on ethernet. All this worked a couple of weeks ago but now nada.
I was able to add the new device from my WiFi connected PC using the web UI. Didn't try the Android web UI. However the Web UI does not allow for smart including. So here we are unable to use smart including.

I would confirm the ip on your phone matches the same subnet on the hubitat. If you are using a mesh network you could possibly be on a different subnet without realizing it.

Thank you for your suggestion. My home network only has vlan 1. I used broadcast domain a relic of my Cisco training.

As a CCNP I feel ya.....

I am hitting this same issue with the 2.0.6 version of the app. I have confirmed that my phone and the hub are in the same subnet and have similar IPs. The phone can reach the Hubitat using it's browser without issue (going directly to the IP).

Closed and restarted the app... and it made no difference. Restarted my phone... still no luck. When I look at the Home screen the hub's name is followed by (Cloud) which I assume is the problem here? It is going through the cloud when it could have a direct connection? Switched to a different hub and it still occurs.

Really wanting to do a SmartStart add of a new Z-Wave LR device...

I am having the same issue. Any help will be appreciated.

No solution I have been told or figured out yet. I have to assume I am missing something SOMEWHERE... but it beats me at this time.

Luckily I still have the old app installed and it works.

to bad the error message can't be bother with stating the networks it tested and failed to match. May have a clue as to how to satisfy it. But NO! that would be to helpful. My whole IT career, all I ever wanted was software which works as promised.

edlin.exe worked out of the box...

Pinging @bobbyD to see if this is a known issue or we are missing something otherwise, since it seems like at least a few people are seeing this issue still (even with Version 2.0.6) and I just tried (yet again) with mine.

I did end up adding a couple devices the "old way"... but I still have 800LR devices I want to get added.

There have been other instances of this issue reported in other topics, seems may be more common than thought. Hopefully @moncho1138 is continuing to look into this.

Bobby, Snell is a technical/networky kinda guy who could maybe provide info from his phone/network to help Moncho sniff out what's causing this...

Mind signing up for beta and trying 2.0.7?

Actually, I am on the beta... but for some reason it did not show an update available for it until I checked manually just now.

As for this issue, no change with 2.0.7. Primary hub still shows as (Cloud) and I get the same message when I go to the Add Device section. Additional things I tried:

  1. Closed the app, reloaded, went back in, no change.
  2. Switched to a different hub, same thing.
  3. Closed the app, switched to my 5Ghz WiFi in case it did not like being on the 2.4Ghz... reopened, went back to my Primary hub... still cannot add. It even knows I am within the Geofence.

As another point, my Unifi presence driver shows my phone as being present on the network as well.

Happy to help however I can.

I am running Android on my phone and Unifi gear and can't replicate. What phone make/model do you have?

FWIW, also Android (S21, Android 14)/2.0.7 (279) release/Unifi gear (U6-LR & Nano-HD) and can't replicate.

Google Pixel 8 with Android version 15. I did not THINK it was actually caused by my network setup (it is pretty basic) but I just wanted to have another point showing the phone was one the same network.

Now I have to avoid talking about Unifi gear... do not want to get sidetracked...

The app doesn't "believe" your phone is connecting to the same local network as the hub, so, the conversation might need to be around network setup. The app development is tested primarily on Pixel phone, and our developers can't replicate either. They know about this issue and will continue to investigate. But you know very well how it goes with fixing problems that you can't isolate.

Two things related to same network confusion. Does the problem have anything to do with my recent subscription to hub protect without remote access? And my App will say there are multiple hubs available and to select which one. (there has only ever been one hub) But following the link offers no choices but the one hub which then renews tokens). When I turned off the cable modem (the modem and router are separate) I can no longer use use that path in the app to reconnect to my hub. But the app itself can control my devices as I am on the same network.

No, it doesn't

That's just confusing wording in the app. That message is shown whether there is only one or multiple hubs discovered.
