Can no longer find Hub

Hi,

I am no longer able to find my hub (Rev C-5), and the led is stuck in solid blue. I read on here that I should reach out to the support email immediately, but haven't heard back and it's been a couple days. Anyone know what I can do? Thanks for your help in advance!

The end of the automated message back had my case number. "If you need to add additional comments, please reply to this email and be sure to refer to case number: 21351."

Can you ping your hub and if so can you get to http://IP:8081?

Thanks for the super fast response. I'm unsure how to ping it. I will google that in a bit. I have seen the recommendations to go to that address, and that address is not found.

http://find.hubitat.com/

does not show you anything?

Had you setup a static IP or a DHCP reservation yet? If not it's possible the IP changed in which case @Eric.C.Miller 's suggestion should help you identify the new IP although it can take a while to update when it changes I think.

When all else fails if you can get to the command line on your PC and issue an

arp -a

it will bring up a list of IP addresses and associated Physical Addresses. Find the Physical Address that matches the MAC listed on the bottom of your hub, and the associated IP Address should be the one you need.

Still no luck, but wow lol you guys really answered the bell. Thank you.

@Eric.C.Miller - no luck, nothing showed up.

@Terk - I don't believe I did. I think it was plug and play for me when I first set it up.

@thebearmay - that was cool, but I'm not seeing the MAC address within that list. Other posts have suggested that the blue light indicates that it's still rebooting. Being that it hasn't changed, I'm wondering if it's possibly bricked?

Okay, given that this is a C-5 and you are showing a blue light, it may not have progressed enough to be on the network yet. This is @bobbyD or @gopher.ny territory...

Ok. Just to ask the obvious, though it’s not usually advised (can mess up the database if done at the wrong instant, but you’ve been stuck at blue light long enough that it doesn’t matter, and can’t put you in any worse shape based on your description of what you have done), have you pulled the plug, let it sit for 30 seconds, then powered up again?

Don’t disconnect power at the micro USB, it’s fragile and the solder joints to the PC board can break. Pull plug at the mains (wall).

Wow. Success. Just as I thought I was stuck in blue light limbo it turned green. Thank you! And thank you all for your help!

I originally didn't turn the power off because I saw all other posts saying don't touch it. But it made sense to be safe than sorry if it really is in an in between booting state (I think).

Thanks again!

Wow. I’ve never heard of a hub taking 3 hours to boot and then surfacing with a green light. You get the medal for patience.

Was it the power cycle that fixed it? If you don't already have one, I would highly suggest a UPS for it. Anything computer related really should be on one. You could have had a minor brownout that locked it up.

I was unclear. Your recommendation solved it. When I plugged it back in, it was a long 2 minutes questioning if I needed to still try new solutions. Then it turned green. Before that, the light was blue for days.

@waffles - yeah, I should absolutely do that. Good call. Thank you.

A bit late to the party here, so all that's left is to second a UPS suggestion.
I use this pass-through power bank instead of a "proper" UPS: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082PGS78L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
There probably are many others, but it has served me well.

I now have a security 12v panel with back up 9AH 12 volt battery. It runs both hubs and my modem router :+1:t2:. Just got a 12-24v to 5 v usb converters connected for the hubs and seems to be going well. Did a test and got 3 hours out of it before I decided I may aswell turn it back on :grinning:.

Glad you got it working. I would suggest you assign it a DHCP reservation on your router to make sure the IP stays static.

I use this one to maintain power for both my HE hub and its router. (It was under $40 when I bought it the end of last year.)

Okay, I feel like a genius /s. Had another brown out and a similar thing happened (led light remained blue for days). I repeated the same steps as last time. Now the light is green, but I cannot find the hub. My router (Eeros) is showing the Hubitat MAC address as offline as well. Any ideas of what can be the issue?

I now just went ahead and bought a powerbank with pass through power.

Does http://find.hubitat.com/ find it for you?

Thank you for the quick reply. It does not. A repeated all of the steps listed previously.
