I went to the Hubitat website to buy a hub to join the cool kids after finally being fed up with ST, and not seeing any mention of any other hubs due out soon, I bought the C7 hub on February 12, then proceeded to get it all setup and never look back at ST again. I'm glad I made the leap, but now I see this shiny new C8 hub was just released and I got a little bit of buyer's remorse.
Does anyone know if there's some sort of time period for situations like this where I could swap out my brand new C7 hub for a brand newer C8 hub without buying the new hub outright?
I wrote to support for my similar situation. They said they'll refund the C7 if I send it back within 30 days (otherwise a restocking fee; I also have to pay shipping but no big deal). I just bought a new C8, arrived today, will return the C7 tomorrow. (They didn't suggest any other process to swap-out; I think it's simple enough to buy and then get a refund, assuming you can handle waiting to get the $100 back or whatever).
Thanks @user4693. I was looking for a way to ask Hubitat directly, but couldn't find any contact info on their website other than a link to this Ask Anything forum. I'll look into what you suggested though and see where that takes me.
I was wondering along these lines, although I'm probably outside the range as I bought my C7 on 12/27/22.
A company has to be able to throw the switch at some point, so I get it. And announcing something new too soon also can hurt in terms of stuck inventory for the previous gen.
