I have a Matter device for which Hubitat is the only controller. I need to add it to another controller. I don't see an option to generate a sharing code for it.
Not at the moment. Matter needs Bluetooth to onboard. That will be in the next iteration of the mobile app.
Ok thanks for your quick reply, I'll just get on and reset it then and start over ![]()
Did you remove it from your other Matter fabric? You would have had to have used one to set it up in the first place (otherwise, Matter-capable or not, it's definitely not a Matter device on Hubitat since Hubitat can't commission Matter devices, a separate though not totally unrelated issue from pairing and not necessarily something the mobile app would need to be used for but not possible at the moment in either case).
Yep. I commissioned using Home Assistant with the Google Thread Network. I then shared with Hubitat and disabled the Home Assistant Matter integration which cleared off any entities for the device in question. It never appeared as a device in Google Home. In case you're wondering why I did such a bizarre sequence of acts, it was in the interests of exploring what ifs. As I was using the system a bit "off piste" I don't resent having to reset it, just wondered.
If you reintroduce it on HA you could share it from HA to several other controllers, 4 I think
Plans change... but at the current time I am wanting to keep Home Assistant for integrations that are not available on Hubitat, such as motion events on cameras, because the system gets flooded with entities that cannot be deleted when no longer wanted unless you remove the entire integration and all devices it supported. Major wtf from me there lol. I want to avoid commissioning in Google Home because I like to keep that for quick voice commands like turning things on and off and the more devices you add the more often Google gets confused about what device you said. I use hubitat's Google integration to decide what devices are available for voice control. Hubitat is my main control centre that knows about every device I have.
Until Hubitat can commission, I plan to commission on my newly acquired Homepod and keep that solely for commissioning Matter devices and providing sharing codes.
I may change my mind about Google if they get round to implementing that user restriction system that allows selective device access to users, but I have a prankster grandson who if he can see a device on the google displays he'll play with it.
Camect....
It's simpler than that. I have virtual motion sensors set up on Hubitat and shared with HA. HA automation simply sets them to motion detected when it gets movement on my Nest, Ring, Hue or Reolink cams so they can join in with motion zones.
@Inge_Jones For me its that not only does camect do motion detection (even with drawable zones) its fantastic NVR
Oh I just checked it out, that's way more than I need. Nice looking little thing though
