Well the OP has the info so they can do with it what they will.
I am not completely convinced of that for all use cases. Maybe for you and some others it is the case, but we shouldn't assume that won't be impactful for all users.

All,
Thanks so much for your input. This discussion was very helpful!
I had to remind myself of whatās in Camectās subscription.
From their website:
Camect service adds features including:
#1 definitely adds no value if one is also using Hubitat.
For the rest, it feels similar to Hubitatās remote admin subscription; for users that canāt or donāt want to make use of a free alternative, it may very well add value.
I gotta admit the last item is sort of intriguing, though. Even without a subscription, you can submit a mis-identified object to their support engineers, supposedly to improve on their detection algorithms.
But perhaps subscribers get a smarter AI detection than what non-subscribers get? Iād have to look into it moreā¦
They don't. That said, there is a hardware accelerator available from a third party which makes the AI even better.
VPN takes care of 2, and you can still clip and export and email clips fairly easily from the dashboard.
For myself I dump everything to my NAS on a 30 day rotation for each camera. And as you know alerts work fine through hubitat/pushover and notifications can still be pushed via hubitat to homekit/google/alexa...
As far as the community goes, I'm still part of it and my sub that came with the purchase has been gone for almost 2 years I think.
Iāve tried both systems ā Camect has great AI detection and can tell people, animals, and vehicles apart very accurately. Unifi is solid for reliability and network integration, but its object detection isnāt as smart as Camectās yet. If your main goal is precise alerts in Hubitat, Camect might be the better choice.
