C8 will not pair with Alertme V1 sensors (V1 iris)

Been using a c4 for years, it started locking up. Saw the extended range c8 and decided for a upgrade I started switching over sensors and everything has moved over except V1 Alertme sensors

I don't use many 1 gen Alertme Iris sensors, but the buttons wouldn't pair, I had some new smart things buttons so I didn't think twice about it, maybe I was off on the resets. But... I wanted to use some old door sensors to monitor refrigerator temps, again would not pair sensor is recognizing, starts to initialize and times out.

Tried the same sensor on the C4 and it paired immediately.

Any ideas?

@mike.maxwell is working on it. When it’s fixed I’m sure it will be stated in the release notes.

Seems like they should add this to the known issues when they put that up. Several people have asked the same thing now. Whether they would look at that first is not clear, but still.

I've asked for it to be added.

I'm sorry, I'm not a really a resident on here, my c4 just ran perfectly for so long I never needed to look anything up  I had assumed I was in the minority trying to use old old hardware

Iris V1 are the bomb! (Actually, just about everything Iris was some of the best stuff.)

Wife LOVES the buttons ("They light up when I press them!") and I have a few plugs that just keep plugging along.

I'm afraid this gave it away. Good for you having a life and all that

Dang, I got suckered into upgrading to a c-8 as well without being aware of the fact that my two dozen iris v1 devices won't be compatible.
Need to decide what to do.... Shell out $500 to replace the devices or go back to my C-3

In the long run, you'll probably be happier replacing them with modern equivalents.

Funny you say that, ordered some china ZigBee temp sensors off eBay, plenty of threads indicating they work on previous versions of habitat..... same exact issues as the alertme v1 sensors will not pair.

There is obviously a issue with the C8

Which ones?

There is a device compatibility list that seems to work pretty well for those who go by it. Other sensors that are genuinely zigbee 3.0 will also work with built-in or community drivers.

Start a new thread indicating exactly which sensors you purchased on eBay, and someone will probably help you get them going.

From my past experiences with the c4 EVERYTHING connected, I had 0 issues, even running custom drivers. Now I can't get sensors to pair and your telling me I have to use certain ones. This is not progress

In any event, if you need help with your "china ZigBee temp sensors off eBay", feel free to start a new thread.

I think this Iris issue was unexpected. When the C8 was initially released, the Iris pairing was there, but it apparently didn't work with this latest Zigbee chip. The option to even try and attempt pairing with Iris V1 was removed at some point.

If you migrate your hub, it will bring the V1 devices over. If you want to pair fresh ones, I think we are out of luck, unless there is some future Zigbee chip firmware update, (not on the Hubitat side, on the chipset side of things) but I don't see that happening for this small subset of users.

I am sorta bummed about it too, but I will just use my C5 for Iris V1 and a few other items, and share those with the C8.

Cannot pair several zigbee devices with new C8

I mentioned it in this thread, appears a lot of us have this issue

I'm fine with not using the v1 stuff I didn't use much, but when I tried to replace the door/temp sensors with tuya temp sensors zigbee that worked with previous habitats and ran into the same problem, I have gotten completely disinterested in the hub.

FWIW, I have several TuYA sensors working with the C-8. This post of yours is the first I've seen mentioning such sensors. If you want to get them to work, start a new thread. There are lots of variations between TuYa sensors, and the specific model you purchased matters.

just updated hub and was able to get it paired, my wait is over now to find a driver
