Where is the option to backup the C8 for the purpose of migrating to the C8 Pro?
This guide should hopefully help...
Ah... I was looking for this option Create a cloud backup for C-8/C-8 Pro migration
As I am a subscriber (& already used that option for C7 -> C8) it was not there.
Thanks for the info. Hopefully my C8 Pro will be up this aft.
It always seemed strange to me that a C8 -> C8 Pro does not have a free cloud migration. Probably because it is technically the same hub "level", so it is not considered an upgrade, but it seems like it should be.
I think it is an option, just not if you already have cloud backups subscribed. Then you just use the regular cloud backup system to migrate.
Same as Jeff, my understanding is you can use the migration backup process to move from a C8 to C8-Pro. Where did you see that migration from C8 to C8-Pro was not supported?
@bobbyD - can you confirm? Does below indicate that C8 > C8-Pro free migration is not supported? Thanks.
There seems to be misinformation floating around here. I have a C-8 without Hub Protect and a C-8 Pro with Hub Protect. Here is the Backup and Restore for the C-8, showing that I can create a migration backup for the C-8:
I guess that is me ![]()
I swear I read that somewhere on here, and I have no Migration backup option on my C8, but maybe that is because I already have Hub Protect? Does that override the Migration setting so that making a Migration cloud backup option does not show?
Yes, that is what I saw on my C7, migrate to a C-8/C-8 Pro option. They are combined, and that does not show on my C8, but it may be because of I have Hub Protect.
I guess without Hub Protect people still see that option on the C8?
Update both hubs to the latest firmware and then shut down and unplug power for 1 minute before the migration and restore. After the migration backup completely turn off the old hub.
Correct, that's what I already said above.
![]()
(cloud backups = any subscription that gets you cloud backups)
Yeah, I agree
As a rule of thumb, upgrading from older hub model to newer hub model should get free migration. Anything other than that is indicative of a ![]()
