I bought a C9-Pro to replace a C7 and be able to place it away from my router (TP-link AX3000) and have Zigbee 3.0
Now, when I connect the C8 by cable, and give a fixed IP, everything works. I get a wifi IP and a Ethernet IP.
The moment I disconnect the Ethernet (after software disconnect), this happens :
I loose the wifi connection too
an IP scan shows both IP's still active, but now they have another MAC (make : Quectel).
there are no open ports an these IP's
I can't open or ping these IP, I get a timeout
The C8 still works : I can use a Zwave button to switch a Zigbee bulb.
Any ideas ?
The workaround is obvious, I take the C8 back near the router and connect the cable,
When you say "give a fixed IP", do you mean you set a fixed IP on the hub or you set a reserved IP on the router? If you're using fixed IP on the hub, I think the first thing to try would be setting the hub back to DHCP.
You can only have wifi or lan not both. So when you disconnect lan it causes issues. If you want to switch properly to wifi, shut down the hub, unplug power, unplug lan cable and power back up, it will then connect to wifi.
Wifi does have it's own unique MAC compared to the wired connection. They both should start with 34:E1:x:x:x
You will want to reserve an IP in your router for both connections so you may find the hub at a particular address. If I recall correctly, you can't set a fixed IP in the hub for wireless, so this has to be done on the router.
That said, wireless is going to be less reliable (no matter the device) than a wired connection. It is recommended to keep the hub wired, if possible. It is a good idea to not have the hub near your router, but given the choice I would use a wired connection and a longer cable and put the hub a couple feet away from the router rather than wifi.
