C8 pro migration of GE/Jasco Zigbee switches

Pairing of GE/Jasco Zigbee switches fails when migrating from C7 to C8 Pro hub. The pairing process correctly recognizes the migrated switches, but the switches fail to operate. Pairing attempts generate log entries such as the following:

dev: 122 2024-08-06 02:59:51.764 PM warn debug logging disabled...
dev: 122 2024-08-06 02:29:46.748 PM warn running configure in 5 seconds...

Any suggestions?
Thank you

I'm confused, if you did a migration there shouldn't be any need to pair them again.

That is what I thought! Unfortunately, the day after migration, I noticed that none of my Zigbee switches were responding to the C8 Pro. The devices were present in the device list, but none responded to commands, and the device pages all listed dates of last activity before the migration.

All 40+ devices required repairing. Hitting the manual generic Zigbee button presented the name of the device in pairing mode. That worked for all but the GE/Jasco devices. They logged the warning previously described.

Following my post, some of the GE/Jasco switches paired successfully. Their log entries documented a successful configuration step in place of the warning issued by other identical switches.

The GE/Jasco device page includes a configure button. Tapping this successfully paired the devices that had previously failed to do so. Problem solved!

As you observed, this tedious exercise should not have been necessary. I had planned to subscribe to Hubitat's cloud backup service because it retains pairing data. That feature unfortunately failed for my C7/C8 Pro migration.

On the bright side, migration worked just fine for Zwave. Unfortunately, I have just one Zwave device.

It sounds like you simply restored the locally backed up database. In order to move the radios you have to do a cloud migration. Both hubs have to be registered under the same email. You do not need a sub for cloud migration. Only future cloud backups. When you do the cloud migration make sure both hubs are on the latest platform, and make sure you check both the zigbee and z-wave boxes when prompyed.

Empirically confirming - just did the C7 --> C8 Pro migration yesterday, including a few Jasco Zigbee switches.

There are few places where the process can go awry and I believe that @rlithgow1 identified a likely culprit.

The attached image shows the cloud migration C7 backup I restored to the C8 Pro. Note that both the Zigbee and Z-Wave boxes are checked and the C7 platform, 2.3.9.166, matches the current up-to-date version.

I also repeated the migration process with identical result when the first attempt failed. I created a second cloud backup on the C7, soft reset the C8 Pro, and restored the second cloud backup to the C8 Pro. Nothing changed.
