C8 Pro Lite - silly question

Agree...that's why I think that removing the connection to the antenna would not interfere w/normal communication, while accomplishing the goal of fully disabling the radios.

Ok, who is going to sacrifice one of their old hubs to test this out?

You don't need to desolder antennas. Just buy two 50 ohm termination caps with the appropriate connector and simply replace the antennas with these caps. Radio communications will be completely down (this is equivalent to desoldering).
And BTW, disabling radios and desoldering radios is not the same.
