C8-pro hub zigbee devices stop responding

Platform version : 2.3.9.150
Hardware version : C-8 Pro

Some of my zigbee devices randomly stop responding. they work fine most of the time, to get them back working, I have to restart the zigbee radio..

when the devices stop responding these are the stats..
CPU usage is between 0.2 to 0.5
db size is 13

what can I do to troubleshoot this issue..
also, is it possible in RM to create an automation to reboot the zigbee radio ?

Thanks

What channel is zigbee on?

channel 11. power level :12
good thought... I just realized that, I recently upgraded from C7 to C8-pro an dfor a while, I had my old c7 online ( on channel 18) .. while I was migrating to the new hub, and so to keep it on a different channel (channel farther away from the old hub) I changed the channel on the new hub.. not realizing that my wifi was also on same channel as the new hub..
based on your question.. I changed my channel back to the channel 18, as it was prior to migration..
Lets see.. hopefully now it would be strong as before !

will report back in a day or two.. if the channel changed helped or not..
but if there is any other thoughts, please feel free..
Thanks

Is the old hub offline now? If you do plan to use it for anything make sure to reset both Z-Wave and Zigbee radios to prevent network ID conflicts.

yes, the old hub has both its radios turned off, I had kept it online just to make sure I joined all the devices and with the correct preferences.. rather than taking screenshots etc.. and since I had time.. did a clean install/join of all the devices, and doing the recommendations of joing from close to far and powered and then end devices etc.. so the netwrk mesh seemed to be strong.. but forgot about the channel and wifi channel...
so fingers crossed that once the new channel updates to all devices, everything would work nicely

Just FYI, disabling the radio just disconnects the hub from the radio, the radio itself is still running and broadcasting.

A good rule of thumb is to keep the hub at 20 and above and your wifi at 6 and below so there isn't any overlap. (I would recommend 25) and see how things behave

Currently I would say above 20, there is a theme with 20 not working well, HE is still trying to figure out what's going on with it. Personally I use 25 since it has a very low chance of wifi overlap.

Agree. Although I was on 15 for a long time w/ no issues on my C7, moving to 25 was a huge part of getting ZB working well when I got a C8.

My Hue bridge is on 20, as it has been since I got it many many moons ago.

Agreed. I had an issue with 20 on Hubitat so changed it to 25 (annoying that on about 15 devices I had to re pair) but I stopped having zigbee radio crashes after that. I just switched my Hue bridge from 25 to 20 and everything seems happy.

Don't know if it's significant , but due to FCC regs , channel 25 & 26 are at reduced power in the failing USA. 26 is more so reduced IIRC.

I use 25 on my C7 and it's been okay tho, but I have a ton of repeaters

I always thought it was just 26 that was power limited. 25 has been working fine for me but I have a handful of devices.

I thought the same, that only 26 is low power. I don't remember seeing 25 being listed as a low power channel.

Both my c8 pros are on 20 same as was on c7.

I do have zigbee power at 16 on both as that is what i had on first c8 and never switched.

New c8 pro zigbee migration was great (42 zigbee devices). Only one quickset door lock had to be re-paired. Much better and painless than original migration on first c8 pro.

I think it is due to 2 things.

  1. adding 2 of the sonoff dongles before migration as those really helped my other hub.

And 2.

Much more mature firmware than the original port. Kudos to hubitat!

ok.. here is my update.. still having issues..
Things I tried ( not in any specific order )
(1) changed the channel to Channel 21
(2) verified no other hub or anything is using 19,20,21,22,23 channels
(3) I did a full factory reset and joined ALL my devices again.. in the order of outlet operated close devices and then outlet far and then battery operated..

The hub just randomly stops communicating with devices.. rebooting radio makes it start communicating again.. but is annoying as heck.. there is nothing in the logs or zigbee logs that indicate any issues..

device stats are 0.2% and app stats also at 0.2%
currently on 2.3.9.166. havent updated to .174

is it possible that it is a hardware issue...

I have had this issue on this hub almost since I setup all my devices.. since almost Jun' 24...the zwave works perfectly fine...
@support_team what are my options.. can someone take a look at engineering logs or RMA or something..
Thanks

What about wifi routers on 2.4ghz channel

Hard code your 2.4 router channel so its doesnt suddenly jump and conflict.

Wifi is using Channel 1 on 2.4 Ghz, it is fixed, not auto

What about neihhbors wifi have u ran a scanner on the pc to check?

just downloaded network analyzer.. and Most of the signals are Channel 1, 6 or 11, and 5G (149,165 etc) channels

Ok all sounds fine. Last thought is a bad device spamming mesh. Could leave zigbee msg log open to see if u see something when
It happens
