C8 Pro - All Zigbee devices stopped working suddenly

Hey all!

I've run into another strange bug with my C8 Pro and was hoping to reach out to the community again, as you guys always help me get back on track!

Most recently, all of my devices that are connected via Zigbee stopped working as of 2 days ago. There were no new devices added to my hubitat, and every device stopped working (various brands of switches, sensors, and bulbs).

When I go into the settings for Zigbee, it shows the last message for all devices to be the moment that things stopped.

I've since tried the following:

  • Reboot the C8 Pro
  • Shutdown and then unplug and wait 20+ minutes
  • Unplugged the devices for 20+ minutes
  • Reboot Zigbee Radio & Rebuild network
  • Switched to channels 20 and 25 and let it run for a few hours

Since the shutdown, the last message for all devices shows as blank with no last time or messages. Even when I go into the device graph, no devices are shown except for the hub.

I've tried to reset a device and reconnect it to the hub, but the hub does not show the device during pairing mode.

Also, when I click Zigbee scan channel, nothing comes up.

To further add to the confusion, any device that is connected via Hue Bridge is able to be controlled successfully through Hubitat; it just seems like it's all Zigbee devices that stopped.

I appreciate all of the help and support from the community so far, and thank you in advance for your continued help!

Best,

Marc

Do you have another Hubitat hub running? This can happen if you have 2 hubs running on the same zigbee channel.

Thanks for the reply!

This is the only hub that I have owned. I've tried 2 other channels since everything went radio silent, and it still fails to find or connect to any device.

Tagging the Hubitat @support_team to see if they have any suggestions.

Any recent changes to your home WiFi network? Please make sure your 2.4GHz WiFi is using either channel 1, 6, and/or 11 with a 20MHz channel width to avoid conflicts with Zigbee channels 15, 20, and 25.

Thanks for tagging the support team!

No changes to the home Wifi network or physical location of either device. Everything has been working flawlessly for months.

What hardware are you using for WiFi? Some systems will automagically change the WiFi settings as they see fit. Thus, a change might occur that was not user initiated.

I'm connected via Xfinity's XB Router.

The 2.4 GHz is set to channel 11, and the 5 GHz is set to 157.

Do you know what the 2.4GHz WiFi channel width is set to? If greater that 20MHz, it will stomp on Zigbee channel 25 (and possibly 20, but not sure about that.

I would force the 2.4GHz WiFi to channel 1, thus freeing up Zigbee channels 20 and 25 for testing.

The width is set to 20.

Unfortunately, these settings are locked by Xfinity and cannot be changed.

Did you ever figure out this issue? Started having something similar

No recent wifi changes. After seeing those posts, I saw that my wifi was set to Auto, so I switched to fixed Channel 1. And switched zigbee to 25. Waiting to see if that fixes it. No change yet, though, and no messages showing up, but I'm being patient (like the settings page tells me to), by figuring out what the next step might be if this doesn't work....

I do have a Hue bridge, though, that I just noticed is also on Channel 25. Guessing I will need to change the Hue bridge's channel, but I won't be able to do that until the morning since you have to turn all bulbs on to do it.

Yes, likely best to take that to channel 20.

Truly impressed... Few can do that.

Let's see how things look in the morning. You may have to toggle some of the devices, unplug, plug no again, possibly rejoin a few, but most should come to the new channel on their own.

Isn't it enough that the bulbs simply have constant power to them? Although, it is possible that the Hue Bridge connected bulbs might flash or change state during the Zigbee channel change...

I recall changing my Hue Bridge's Zigbee channel in the past, but do not recall actually turning on each bulb before starting the process... Although, it has been a year or two.
