C8 Pro 2.3.9.200 zwave weirdness

I'm seeing that as far as I can tell, all my devices are functional. However, they don't seem to be seeing each other. I looked in my settings and it's set to LR but I don't have any LR devices. Should I change this? What if I want to add LR devices later?

I look at my topology and it's completely red.

C8, same fw

I'm now mostly LR, but still have a fair amount of mesh.
This is what I get when I hit 'topology' just now:

Try using http://<Hub IP Addr>/hub/zwaveNodeDetailGet and then go back to your Zwave Details page

Thank you, EndPoint Master!

I did that and it's improving. I do have this strange loop on my graph.

Bryan is recommending using the "Refresh Statistics" button on the Z-Wave Details page when I talked to him about the endpoint recently.

Another thing I found, it's got this weird device that seems to have been created.

Here is my topology. Again, everything seems to be working.

Those are the options for a device when it has plain "Device" selected as the driver.

But the thing is, the hub seems to have created the device itself. It shows up as zwave.

So much stuff is going weird for me.

@bcopeland

That can be confusing -- it just says LR there for C7/8/8P because the radio's capable of LR. The other (no LR) option applies to older hub models. The hub will always select the appropriate one, and you can't actually change it.

If you try to change it to the other one, it seems like the change sticks, but it actually doesn't. If you go back, it'll be back at the LR option again. Nothing at all to worry about.

Ok, so that's no biggie. Thank you for clarifying. Now I need to figure out what is going on with everything else.

By this, do you mean it shows up on your Z-Wave Details page?

Can you post a screenshot of this device's own Details page? There may be more clues there about what it actually is.

I've never heard of the hub creating a device out of the blue.

Yeah, about that. It's gone now.

What. Is. Going. On?!

IIRC, if you pair a device to the hub that it doesn't recognize, it could join as Device Type "Device." You can then choose the appropriate device type/driver manually via the Device Type drop-down.

It going away on its own is pretty not normal, to say the least. Any chance you may have changed the device type using the drop-down? Is your Device tab being filtered in any way - to make sure the Search field is empty and doesn't have anything, even a space in it, hit the Clear button next to it:

Have you shut down/pulled power/waited 30s/plugged in again yet?

Yes, I've shut down and power cycled. I didn't change anything. Having migrated to a C8 pro seems to have thrown things into some kind of limbo.

How recently did you migrate? If pretty recent and not much has changed you you could re-do the migration...

It's only been a few hours. I suppose I can try that.

My reservation in doing that is that everything seems functional. It's all very strange. I think I might hold off till I here from staff members.

Absolutely...two paths:

  • Wait it out. No cost, I think you said things are working, maybe everything fills in by tomorrow.
  • Re-do now.

Did you try the Refresh Statistics button?

Yes I did a refresh. I even went around and activated everything to make it "talk".
