C8 Dead on Arrival

Just got my C8 delivered. Plugged it in, followed the instructions, and had a blue light for a few seconds, then nothing. Unplugging for 30 seconds or more, plugging back in - nothing. Tried a different USB cord, nothing. I've emailed info@hubitat.com - where the order confirmation came from - and asked for a replacement. No response yet. But, got to tell you - this isn't a confidence builder. I've invested so much time in rules, etc. If the hardware is poor quality, is this a platform I want to rely on?

Anyone else have similar issues?

@bobbyd @support_team Any steps I should take?

Haven't seen any HW issues with them and I've had one of them up and running for a month or more. HW seems pretty solid. If the hub is connected to the network and you can ping it you might try to see if you can reach the diagnostics page on port 8081. But maybe tag @bobbyd for help.

You're the first one I've heard report this condition. You said you tried a different cable did you also try a different power supply?

Yes sir, no luck.

Rather than wear bobbyD out I sometimes flag @support_team which is monitored by a team of 5... :sunglasses:

No company has 100% non DOA products. It's a shame you may have gotten one. They will take care of you.

Good tip I didn't know that!

Tip 'o the hat to Hubitat - info@hubitat.com has responded and sent out a new C8. Can't expect much better than that I guess!

Thanks Brad - haven't seen a new device join my network. I've got it connected via ethernet cable and DHCP running. Probably an electrical issue, but I'm no engineer. They've sent another one so we'll try that once it arrives.

Looks like mine is DOA as well :cry:
No wired connection so I tried WiFi and got it talking. Then I tried to restore from the backup of my C-7 I just did and I get “ Hub failed to restore. Internal error occurred while restoring backup.”

@support_team - anything I can try?

Sorry to hear that, although it sounds like yours is DOM (dead on migration)... rather than DOA. The good news is that it could be resuscitated. Please send us a private message to @support_team along with your hub ID and we would help you out.
