C8 constant blue light - Unresponsive

I ordered my C8 on March 1st, 2023. After the initial configuration it has been fine. I added a couple additional devices a few months ago and it was working properly. However, the other day I used the app on my android phone to pull up the dashboard. It was so slow and unresponsive. I then went to my computer. I pulled up the static IP on a browser and it was slow also. I used the webpage to have the C8 reboot. That was the last I have seen of my C8. It now has a constant blue light and will not respond to its IP address. I used findmyhub.hubitat.com. No luck just scanning. Then I typed in the MAC address. It did find it but when I click the "connect to my hub" button it cannot load the page. It was plugged into a UPS the entire time. I have also put a different wall wart and USB cable but it had no effect.

Can you help?

Can you get to the diagnostics menu? (http:\\<hubIpAddress>:8081)

Nope. (I should have put that in my original post.)

Have you tried the network reset button? (

Yes. I held it for 10 seconds. Blue light went away. Green light appeared for a second or two then went blank. Red light appeared for a second then when blank. Finally, blue light came on and is still on steady.

@thebearmay BTW Thank you for asking those questions so quickly.

Now that you've reset that instead of 10.10.10.10 go to hubitat.local:8081

Ok. It shows a tiny different error.

After the network reset I used findmyhub. When I searched by the MAC it still says 10.10.10.30. That's why I was continuing to use it.

But you got me thinking. I went to my router and searched for a lease and found the C8s MAC tied to a new IP.

When I go to the new IP 179 I see the screen below

go to http://10.10.10.179:8081 and do a soft reset.

Now I can access the Diagnostic tool. Thank you @rlithgow1

The regular IP still says "initializing Hub: 15%".

How long should I wait? Or do I use the diagnostic tool right away?

To add to what @aaiyar put a DHCP reservation into your router so it doesn't change again.

If it's stuck at 15% to a soft reset and pick your last backup for restoration when it comes back up

Right now? Even though the boot up screen says updating database?

Ok. Doing that now. Hub is rebooting

I'm not sure I would say the router changed it. I statically / manually assigned the C8 to .30 when I first configured it. The only reason it is .179 now is because I was told to perform a "network reset" on it, which must have wiped the settings and put it back to DHCP, The only reason I didn't search for a new IP address earlier was because the "findmyhub" tool was still reporting it as the static .30

That worked! Thank you. It restored and is operational. Is there anything else I should do? Any kind of maintenance?

It is on version 2.3.7.140 and it says .145 is available. I'm a little worried about updating it. Should I be?

This all came out of the blue. Is there anything that I should be doing to prevent this (whatever it was) from happening again?

BTW when the first person replied I thought his screen name was "TheBeerArmy". @thebearmay

LOL that wouldn’t be a bad one at all. .145 fixes a few minor bugs, and now that your database is back you shold be okay moving forward.

Do manual backups to your pc once in a while. Get Hub Protect, this will back up not only the database but the radios to the cloud in case it ever has to be replaced and it's basically an extended hardware warranty. And by all means, yes, update to the latest platform (download a current backup to your pc when prompted)

As to it coming out of the blue. It can happen. Brownouts, power disconnects (without shutting down properly) are big causes.
