C8 Cannot be reached ... but is otherwise functioning normally

Moved to the C8 some months ago. Tonight, I needed to shut it down then power down/power up. After the power up, my C8 had disappeared: efforts to reach it through my local app, through the Hubitat site, through web browser with IP address, through third party products like Alexa. All, after a pause, report that the hub/node is not responding.

Tried several power down/power up cycles (could not reach the hub to shut it down, of course). No change.

Yet curiously, events are occurring as previously coded. So, Hub is running. I just cannt reach it to make adjustments and the like.

Almost always install the hub software updates -- last was done earlier in the day.

Your IP Address probably changed because you didin't reserve an address in your Router.

You can use http://findmyhub.hubitat.com/ because your hub will 'phone home' on each reboot.

Thanks much. I had not yet taken the step of reserving the Hub's address. Did go through the "findmyhub" tack -- thanks for suggesting it as I did not know about it. Searching my LAN, it finds the hub at the exact same IP address as I have been using in my failed attempts to reach it. Advanced search by MAC address also failed to find the hub.

OK, after my fourth power down/power up, my C8 reappeared. What a relief. But I hope it is only a one-time thing.

With the hub now up, I can do a bit of polling around for clues as to why it misbehaved.

Looks like your original diagnosis was spot on. Exploring a bit, the hub IP had changed. That IP is now reserved for the hub. Lesson learned, thanks.
