C8 -> C8 Pro and IRIS V1 devices

Currently have a C8 hub that was migrated from a C5 that had the old IRIS v1 devices ported over. I understand that we cannot pair those devices to a C8 directly and all has been fine. Onto the question, I am considering moving my main hub to a C8 Pro.

  • Will I be able to utilize the Hub Migration tool to move my programming and devices from the C8 to the C8 Pro?
  • AND almost more importantly, will the Iris V1 devices migrate to the C8 Pro as they had from the C5 to the C8?

Thanks all!

No. Iris V1 is not supported on C-8 Pro. What you could do is leave them on the C-8, and use Hub Mesh to connect that to a C-8 Pro.

???

Iris V1 is not supported on the C-8 either. Did you mean to say leave them on the C-5 and use hub mesh.,,..

This is probably a bad guess, but they should migrate? They migrate from C7 to C8 just fine, wouldn't cloning the radio do the same whether from C5 to C8 or C8 to C8?

This is what I have done as I have added new sensors and had sensors drop off the C8 for various reasons. This is definitely the easy way to handle things if you have an older hub laying around.

I think the best description is they might port just fine. If they don't then you will not get them back. When I ported my C7 to the C8 I had several V1 devices and about half ported and worked fine. the others dropped and could not be re-paired to the C8.

I have since removed all Iris devices from my home setup. I have a C7 hub in my detached shop, so now I have some spares for my shop setup..

They will. But can’t be re-paired if they drop off.
