Hello, I have had a C7 for a couple years and it has worked great. I recently moved to a new house and when I plug it in, nothing happens. There is no light at all. I have tried different cords and outlets but still nothing. Does anyone know if this can be fixed? Or do I just need to buy a new one since I am out of warranty period?
There are some on the forum that have reported that the plug on the Hub is fragile and can be damaged when plugging the micro USB in. So you could open it up and see if it was damaged and perhaps repair it. Sounds like a power issue, so maybe that is it.
Also you are sure it's not coming up? I assume you can't connect to it? Maybe the power on LED is bad?
Other wise you may have to get another.
Have you tried a different power adapter? Even an open USB port on a computer would be able to confirm if it's the power adapter that went bad, or the hub itself.
Thank you for your response. Yes, I have tried connecting to power/internet and making sure that I still cannot connect so problem is not simply the LED. Is there a way to take it apart without further damaging it? I'm surprised this isn't something covered by warranty.
Yes, I have confirmed that the wire and adapter can power other devices. Just not the Habitat.
It comes apart pretty easily. Just 4 screws on the bottom under the little rubber feet. Just be careful with the board as the antennae are taped to the top lid.
Are there many electronic products that can be purchased for ~$100 that have a replacement warranty for ~2 years? Even ~$1000 cell phones come with a one year warranty, although both Apple and Samsung permit the purchase of extended protection.
It would be covered under warranty if the hub were within the warranty period. Or if an extended warranty (Hub Protect) had been purchased by the end user.
Ok so ive gotten it taken apart and didnt see anything obviously broken. Plugged it in and am seeing some signs of life (white led) but still cant connect. Im adding some pictures. Any advice what to do next?
Edit: after further investigation, the light is shining through from the room, not power to the device unfortunately.
So does Hubitat
You could try reflowing the solder on the power connector. Just an idea. Do you have hub protect?
