Hi all, I have just got a C7 and TL-WN823N wifi dongle.
I have been able to install the drivers without issue and scan for wifi network found my network.
However I can't connect to the network. The green circle spins for a while then it says 'Cannot join network'.
I am using a 2.4GHz Android mobile hotspot, and the C7 is on 2.4.0.151.
I have tried restarting with and without the dongle, reinstalling drivers and different browsers.
Is there a reason you are trying to use a Hotspot on your phone, vs a connection to an established Wi-Fi network? Are you only looking to temporarily connect to the Internet to perform firmware updates and then rely on Z-type comm's from there....?
Yes, because I don't have and established wifi network at home.
I am hoping to do initial set up with mobile hotspot and then rely on local zigbee for all automations.
Separate to that... the likely possible reasons for not being able to connect to your Wi-Fi hotspot on your phone could be .... There could be some authentication or security-related issue.... hard to tell.... I expect your use is not a likely use-case factored into the Wi-Fi connectivity setup the HE boffins have in their test cases (I am likely wrong).... Just a guess...
@bobbyD - hopefully my lack of tagging in recent times will allow me to call on you to direct @tommy.s in the right direction as to whether the security settings of the Wi-Fi connection from the HE to a Wi-Fi endpoint will support a phone HotSpot... and / or who is best to answer questions in this space... (not to say there is a quota or limit to the support we can ask for... )
Today I got it working, by connecting to a different android phone.
I then changed the network name on my phone the match the other phone and somehow it now connects.
