Maybe this got asked-and-answered (or guessed-and-hinted) earlier, but now that Bluetooth functionality is being openly talked about w.r.t. the C-8 Pro hub, this man's got a few questions:
Is BT connectivity gonna become a selling point going forward?
Can we expect paired devices to serve as presence sensors?
Will the public API/docs expand on BT usage in apps/drivers?
Would HubMeshBT™ ever link hubs sitting on separate LANs?
Could the mobile app maybe connect via BT (e.g. for times when a VPN otherwise blocks local LAN connections)?
Not tryna sign no NDA's or peek at roadmaps, so vague answers will do. Just curious!
Yes. The plan is to expand beyond BTHomeV2 devices.
Yes. It's a frequent ask.
Yeah, we need to expand on that. For now, beta forum has a sample driver BTHomeV2 posted.
No.
There's a BLE based hub setup (including WiFi reconnect) in the works. We don't see BLE connectivity as a replacement for WiFi/Ethernet connection, though.
Something in this area could also be useful for shutdowns/reboots if something goes awry with the LAN as another potential option to avoid the "plug pull" method. Just a thought.
Yep, was thinking along the same lines.... Tasker/Android integrations, for starters. Bonus points for voice assistant pairing as a means of broadcasting beeps and boops. Or BT numeric keypads for a whole host of interesting options.
