Cant do a rebuild if you cannot boot.
But the equivalent from Diagnostic tool would be to do a Soft RESET, then restore the latest backup when it reboots and asks.
You said you did a Soft Reboot but not a Soft Reset?
Yes, just rebooting it. I was afraid of doing any reset in fear of things going south and having to configure all my devices again (almost 100 switches, sensors, and stuff). So im trying to revive things as is first, before doing any resetting. So I thought I'd either I download and install later firmware, or roll back 1 version. But I'm posting here to check if that's ok at this hub's current stuck state.
Download your backups and if they download correctly as an lzf file then you should be safe. Do a soft reset. It is perfectly safe, it dos not clear the radio's, it only clears the hub database and the restore will put it right back how it was from the backup (minus whatever got corrupted).
When the hub gets stuck booting like this 99% of the time a soft reset fixes it.
You can try updating the platform if you want but usually that does not fix this type of issue when other people have tried. Unless there is a specific bug that was fixed.
BTW, the lzf file backups, they do not allow me to restore the actual connections with the zigbee devices in case i need to do a full reset or change hardware? i mean, that's my biggest concern really, re-adding all these devices would be a nightmare.. I've got switches on the walls, smoke detectors on the ceilings, power plugs in really hard to reach places, etc. I dont mind re-creating the rules, but re-adding/connecting the zigbee devices is gonna be hella hard.
Correct, you need Hub Protect for that (or a free migration backup if you upgrade to a new hub). But a soft reset will not disconnect any devices from the hub. The need for a Full reset is highly unlikely.
Oh and I see you are already on 2.4.0.151, which is the latest firmware anyway.
