Which database? Each zigbee/zwave device is in two databases. One of them (the radio db) cannot be modified in the manner you describe.
And even if you could do something about this, I would ask Hubitat to not use limited resources on this. 
So many other important things to work on that affect the majority of users instead of this niche issue where there really isn't an issue since you can share devices from any previous hub to all the newer hubs via hub mesh. Solving a problem that isn't a problem isn't a good use of their time. 
Not to mention Iris was killed off in March 2019, 7 years ago, and the v1 devices are several years older than that. Juice isn’t worth the squeeze.

The official position is in the Hubitat documentation that was linked to much earlier in this thread. Namely, Iris v1 devices are not compatible with C-8/C-8 pro hubs.
That incompatibility cannot change for these two hubs. It could hypothetically change if and when zigbee 4.0 SoCs are released (and Hubitat makes a new hub using one of these hypothetical SoCs).
