Bulbs not dead, but dying ... Refurbish Company?

Had a semi-good run with some Sylvania/Osram Full Color BR30 bulbs (link/picture). I bought them very cheap off Amazon, and Im pretty sure they were some sort of refurb (or at least that is what a bunch of the comments were complaining about). I got about 3 years out of them. They still function, colors seem to all work. Its the WHITE that is either dim or flickers continually. It got to the point of overly annoying.

Ive recently swapped them out, but I feel bad trashing them as for color they work, or maybe I can send them somewhere that will refurb and resell (Im not looking for cash or anything, just reduce sending ■■■■ to landfill)

Any ideas on this?

Does your community have a electronic waste recycling options? I know here in the Chicago area some villages have an annual day where they collected old electronics for recyclable waste processing.

They do, not often, but they do. I might just list them on Craiglist as working with limitations and let someone get a nice box of bulbs for free .. lol

That’s quite a good run for those lights. I had 6 of them in recessed cans. When the second one started doing exactly what you described within the first 6 months of use, I replaced them with the Sylvania rt5/6 rgbw lights. They were also ridiculously cheap at the time (4-5 years ago) and I got them for ~$13 each. They weren’t refurbished, just discontinued prior to EOL on the Lightify hub. They are all still working (18 in total) 4-5 years later. I think the BR30 and A19 bulbs ran too hot to have a long life.

I cant complain, they were about $8 a bulb ... 3 years later and Ive retired 8 and have 4 left ...
They work for color, just feel bad ditching them ...
