BUG: SmartThings Motion Sensors pairs as Moisture Sensor

I have a LOT of SmartThings Motion Sensor v5s that always paired as "Generic Zigbee motion". I recently went to pair two of these in the last couple weeks and when the Zigbee search (the method I have always paired them) finds them, it calls them "Moisture sensors" and gives them the moisture sensor attributes. I've then tried activate by name and it still does the above. I've tried to use "device" as a driver and can't figure out how to remove the attributes of a moisture sensor. I'm told it can be tho.

I can of course use the Generic Motion Sensor driver, and do, but it is still somewhat considers it to be a moisture sensor. lol Some folks might be perplexed with this issue.

This just started a few updates ago. And the two drivers are next to each other. Understandable.

So, when someone involved sees this, there's a slight mistake there. Maybe in a update soon could correct this .

Hope this post is in the right category.

  1. Change the driver to "Device". Click "Save".
  2. Click on "Configure".
  3. Click on "Delete all Current States".
  4. Change to the Generic Zigbee Motion Sensor" driver. Click "Save".
  5. Click "Configure"

As for the original issue, I'm tagging @mike.maxwell. But it would help if you posted the fingerprint for these two new motion sensors versus your older ones.

Thank you for the reply. Odd thing, Historically, I have never seen anything happen on the screen when I hit configure. The button indicates it's pushed, but nothing happens. I'm using Firefox. Maybe an issue with that browser?

You need to look at the logs.

Ahh, I just did it in the exact order you told, (duh) and it deleted them. THANK YOU

I guess I was looking for some manual more granular deletion sort of thing. I'm not a power user, I frustrate a bit on some of these things! Thanks!

I'm not familiar with finding "fingerprints:" I see " when you pair the device , hit "more details" before leaving the device discovery screen." is the way I take it?

Ok, unpaired an old one that was in use and re-paired it, it gets the proper driver and attributes. Works as expected.

So, I'm seeing the ones that are pairing properly are pairing "Motionv4"..... And the ones I'm having issue with are pairing as "Motionv5". Obviously a newer version. But it thinks it's a moisture sensor

Old one that works as expected"
Old proper pairing

The MotionV5, Smartthing Motions that don't pair as expected (moisture sensor):

new motion
