For whatever reason, I cannot seem to change the background / colors for the Thermostat tile?
Is it just me??
Are you selecting the current state for the thermostat tile template? I just tested and it and I was able to change the idle state colors and background colors.
If you can tell me the steps you are taking, including version of hub software, browser and OS, that would help narrow down where the problem you are experiencing my be.
Ahhh, I went back for the at least the 10th time and changed the background in all the states again, and it was the "idle" state that for whatever reason had not had a background color applied! I was sure I looked at it too. I updated to the latest release 2.0.8.113, not sure if that helped, but it works!

Mine won't save either. Clicking the save button doesn't do anything it just sits. I was trying to change the colors for the cooling and heating states.
EDIT: It did save, apparently. But the selection won't change anymore, see the gif. In other words, you can only edit one template and then close the window and start again.
Yeah, I really had difficulty with getting the color to hold. When I switched the states in editor sometimes the background for the previous state showed, which was probability tripping me up. makes sure you set the "idle" stated as no matter what mode your are in (i.e. cool, fan, heat etc...) when the system is not currently running, it will display the "idle" tile. Keep at it, it will work!
The problem you described I often had in the old Dashboard. Such that I stopped trying to use custom templates. Seemingly the new templates work (for me), but the UX on that save button is wacky.
