Brand New Elevation - Can't pair Aeon MS6 nor Monoprice PIR

Just opened the package a few hours ago and have been trying to pair a few devices with less than overwhelming results.

All these devices had been on a VeraPlus. They were properly unpaired and then factory reset per the mfg instructions.

  1. Leviton VRPD3-1LW (plug in dimmer module) = success, however it was discovered as a fan controller. But it seems to be working.

  2. Monoprice 15271 PIR (aka Vision ZP-3102) a Z-Wave Plus device = would not pair.

  3. Aeon MultiSensor6 (Z-Wave Plus) = will not pair. One post mentioned they had success with this device.

In each case I tried multiple time (usually with factory resets between)
The units are < 1 meter from the HE. I plan to try a slightly longer distance.

Any suggestions?

Another question. When I initiate "discover devices" on the HE it keeps searching without any apparent time limit. How should I terminate the process? Just click on "devices"?

Thanks
John

#1, Click Devices, Click your detected device, let support know the information under the "Data" section. This is the fingerprint they will need to associate a specific device with the proper driver.

#2 There is a small hole on the back side of this device. Press it with a paperclip or something when discovering. If it will not pair, go to Settings > Z-Wave Information > Z-Wave Exclude then press the button a time or two. After the 30 second exclude period ends, try to pair again by discovering devices and then pressing the button in the small hole on the back.

I have 12 Aeon MultiSensor 6's and they all paired easily, because it has an easy button to click.
On the back, to the right of the ZWave logo is an indentation, Push there and the entire back flexes to manuver a lever inside to push a button down on the Circuit Board. Rube Goldberg to me! I just pop the back off and move the lever towards the "top" to push the button.

Start with a Factory Reset. Press and hold the button for 20 seconds, the LED will blink slowly then rapidly then go off, and back on for 2 seconds. That is your indication it's reset.

Put the Hubitat into discovery and single click the button (lever) and the little LED will go on and off and flicker. Then WAIT. Discovery of the device is just a portion of the work, the info discovered has to be looked up and it seems like it's a good chunk of a minute sometimes before it announces the find.

You could have paired in secure mode with a double click of the button/lever, but given the frustration you already have, I'd suggest sticking with a non-secure (single click) of the button/lever. You can always exclude it later then include again. Clearly, getting it to do it once is the most critical step.

Someone's YouTube video showing the factory reset:

When the reset is complete and you release the button/lever, it does the multicolor glow thing.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm aware of the operation of both devices as I had them working with my VeraPlus. I have the MS6 paired and working, I'm not sure but perhaps it was too close to the hub (~ 18"). I moved it about 8' away and it paired 1st time. Could be something else though.

I'll keep trying the Monoprice PIR sensor as it was finicky connecting it to the Vera as well.
