Brand new C7, unboxed and.. Nothing!

Hi guys,

Brand new to the community, been lurking a while while researching migrating from ST. Long story short, finally took the plunge after many months of research, was super excited and opened the C7 box and hub simply doesn't work at all. No LED, tried every which cord, adapter, outlet etc and it's just a dead brick.

Found a few threads similar but without definitive resolution. Am I alone here? Is the only resolution a replacement or might there be a fix?

I will say what's weird is it seems my router recognizes the hub and when scanning for it on my phone using Mac Adress I can see it but the hub itself never loads no matter what I try. Needless to say am super disappointed. Any tips greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much,

JD

It sounds like you have tried all reasonable troubleshooting. It is possible the LED itself is just broken, but if you're unable to load the web interface at the correct interface, that's not promising either (only other thing you could try is the diagnostic tool on port 8081 over HTTP, or use findmyhub.hubitat.com to make sure the IP address didn't change).

Assuming none of that helps, your best option would be to file a claim under "Warranty" on the support.hubitat.com page, perhaps pointing to this topic for reference to what you've tried:

Thanks for your reply, but no luck.

Is this a common issue? Frankly I can't even recall the last time I recieved a fully DOA device of any kind..

This is rare (there is a human process involved after the actual hardware manufacturing, so anything dead from there would have been caught then).

I would suggest proceeding with the process above.

Curious where you purchased this, Amazon? Ebay?

It’s been seen for purchases from Amazon, which sends out returns as new product. Not seen for purchases from Hubitat, which also usually has the lowest price.

Not just Hubitat issue with Amazon. They have a huge problem sending out used, dirty, and defective merchandise of all types that is priced and advertised as being new.

Yep. About half of the “new” Aeotec contact sensors I have received from Amazon have been open box, previously paired, with 1/4 battery life.

So surprised by all this because I bought directly from hubitat!

Submit a warranty claim.

Unless I’m mistaken, Hubitat, like a lot of other companies, uses Amazon to fulfill their orders in the US, so the same issue would apply.

I'm in Canada!

Not sure about Canada, I know that it is possible to purchase from Aartech to pay in CAD and avoid duties, but since you have purchased directly from Hubitat, I’m not sure…. I’m wondering if they take care of those orders themselves or get them fulfilled by Amazon as well…

Good question. According to my FedEx tracking, the package came out of Arizona where hubitat HQ is. In any case, from my digging around the forums it's almost unheard of that a DOA hub came directly from hubitat. Haven't heard back from support yet, hoping I'll get a replacement quick and that all works as expected because the last thing I want to do is change course toward HA..
