I have Bond Bridge Pro integrated into Hubitat. When I add a new device to Bond it doesn't show up in Hubitat under the Bond integration. How do I add new Bond devices once its already been set up?
Try going to the "Bond Bridge" device in the devices list. Click Configure and/or Refresh.
Refresh the page. Scroll to the bottom and look at the "Component devices"
Are your new devices listed?
No. Tried that a bunch of times even waited awhile and tried again after logging out of Hubitat but the new devices never appeared.
Run the configure with debug logging enabled. It does log a bunch of device Ids so you may not want to post it, but for mine the last 3 logs are showing 3 different ID numbers (I have 3 fans connected). Also seeing prior to that, 3 different lines (one for each device) with the device name from Bond, and the capabilities they are setup for.
What kind of devices are you adding?
A Zigbee outlet or light switch
Is there a reason you don't pair the Zigbee devices directly to Hubitat, assuming they're compatible? I don't know that Hubitat's built-in integration was written for anything other than fans or (normally dimmable) lights, and I doubt the community integration is being maintained anymore if it's the one I know of.
You will probably have better luck with both of your issues if you do that.
"Both" referring to this and the one you mentioned in the other thread, having created two or three different topics on a similar issue now (please don't). ![]()
Did not know you could even do that. Must be something with the Pro? The integrations I believe were designed for the features of the regular bond bridge. Probably only support the RF devices and not Zigbee.
The reason I don’t pair Zigbee outlets directly to Hubitat is that I needed to create a robust mesh network so that my Zigbee shades would have good signal. So I wanted to pair all Zigbee devices to the same Zigbee network as my shades which cannot be done with Hubitat. So I have my shades and Zigbee outlets all on a proprietary Zigbee router which gives me great signal to all my shades … and the proprietary router is compatible with Bond Pro … so that leads me to Hubitat integration.
I haven't ever seen any evidence that Bond Pro supports zigbee, so I'm wondering if there's a larger protocol-compatibility issue here.
It does not AFAIK either, and there is no mention of Zigbee on the Bond Pro device page on the Bond site. But the proprietary router could be talking to the Bond Pro via Wi-Fi (which it does support)?
Ah yeah, that must be the deal... Man, I'm still having problems trying to wrap my head around what's going on here - it seems oddly complicated.
It certainly is more than I would have thunk of... ![]()
So My Zigbee network integrates with Bond through Telnet TCP. But yes, Bond does not have it's own Zigbee network.
I guess I'd be surprised if HE's Bond integration can handle something like that (since it's pretty vanilla capability-wise), but @bcopeland would be in the best position to confirm yay or nay.
Yeah...devices via a secondary controller has never been discussed in any of the Bond integration discussions I've seen, and I was with it from the initial beta.
But it sounds like you were able to initially pair devices brought in through the secondary controller to your Bond bridge when you first set up the integration, it's just devices you are trying to bring in later, right?
I agree we need Mr. Copeland here...
If the shades are Zigbee why cant they just pair directly to HE? They only work on their own special Zigbee hub?
I removed the “official” Bond integration and installed the community bond app. Will install a couple more Zigbee devices this weekend and see if it lets me add them to Hubitat.
The community app is a little more full featured/flexible than the built-in integration, so you might like it better regardless. I don't remember the exact differences, been too long. ![]()
IIRC the main difference where the built-in integration leads is that it doesn't require polling, which the community app does.
Update: I removed the “official” Bond integration and installed the Community Bond Integration using Hubitat Package Manager. I ordered some Zigbee plugs that arrived today and added them to my network and then into Bond. Once I did that I was able to add them into Hubitat and enable HomeKit and the new devices are added. Perfect.
The only thing that’s off is the Zigbee shades are in reverse status of what they should be (Hubitat shows them as closed when they are actually open).
In conclusion: the community Bond app through HPM is the way to go.
