Blue iris and hikvision cameras

So I have been trying to get my blue iris into HE for awhile. Unfortunately everything I try doesn’t work . Is there any easy way of doing this ? Actually, BI doesn’t need to be in HE I just need to view it from action tiles but that’s a different help group .

Also I was looking at the hikvision driver I installed it from HPM . However reading the doc it seems to be a security risk as your user and pass aren’t https only http . With that said my ip camera don’t have access to the WAN only LAN .

So is there any good ways to view Blue Iris within HE?

Thanks for any help

Can you clarify what your specific goals are?

It sounds like you want to view camera feeds on an actiontiles dashboard.

Is that all or do you have other things in mind too?

Correct i would like to view camera feeds from action tiles or HE whatever one is easier.

I think you were pointed in the right direction in another thread, but I’m pasting the relevant quote here:

If you can set blue iris to re-encode the camera streams you want to see as mjpeg, it’s easy enough to view with a Hubitat dashboard.

I’m not sure what options there are for viewing camera streams with an actiontiles dashboard for Hubitat.

So i can do http://blueirisip:port/mjpg/camshortname/video.mjpg

And it works in a browser (chrome) however when i put it in action tiles it doesn't work . Im confused as to why

I believe actiontiles is connecting to your hub through the cloud.

So there’s no way for your blue iris server’s local IP to be seen on that dashboard.

I believe the same issue would happen with a Hubitat cloud dashboard.

But a local Hubitat dashboard should work.

Im not using HE at all just AT . Im reading on BI site and person used the url and it works , jist not for me . But again the url works in chrome fine.

Try this link:

Can you post a link to this?

If you’re not able to post links, try joining the hub owners group first.

Sorry im confused as of what you're asking

Well that makes two of us :slightly_smiling_face:.

If I’m understanding you correctly, you said that you read “on the blue iris site” about someone else that did what you’re trying to do.

I was asking you to share a link to that page.

As @marktheknife pointed out, your camera is on your local network, but action tiles uses the cloud to connect to your hub so there is no way for AT to see your local network. You would have to use one of the built in dashboards in order to see your camera feeds. That said, you would only be able to view it when on your local network, once outside of that you won't be able to see it. The only way I see of accomplishing both is to setup a Firewall with a DMZ, attach the blue iris PC and associated cameras to that network then install a hairpin internally so that you can see from inside the network and out. You could do port redirection but that leaves a gaping hole in your network

Yup, that’s exactly what I was getting at above.

Which is why I tagged ya lol... I just wanted to expand. :stuck_out_tongue: (shaddup about my body type :stuck_out_tongue: )

I don’t think the message landed earlier, so it was good to reinforce :+1:.

So it looks like because of modern web browsers everything needs to be https and my link was http. As of right now i have the my video feeds in action tiles but only as a url not a viewable feed. I haven't tried this let and its old but they claim it's working

If you got it to work, then set your refresh on the image tile to 1
