I can't believe I can't find what I'm looking for. I must just be using the wrong search terms or something. I have a Lifx bulb in the lamp in my kids room. Every few days I have to go through the setup using the app because the kids (ok, probably just the 2 year old) have turned the lamp on and off repeatedly using the in-line switch and have reset it. I just want something that is a plastic shell that clamps over the switch so it can only be powered off by unplugging it.
Cover it with electrical tape.
You could always wrap it in electrical tape. Maybe not so great looking, but if done right, it can be difficult to get it off. Just try getting it started off the roll, you'll see how hard it can be.
Perhaps replace the lamp wire with one that does not have a switch.
Also deflect the behavior - get something fun like this:
And use the mirrorsync app.. My daughter who is older still likes messing with this.
edit: I second the idea of replacing the switchable cord with a non-switchable one. It should be very easy to do and swap back eventually.
No.... something like that is exactly what I'm looking for. The fact you thought I wasn't definitely tells me I'm not searching with the right terms.
I have a Zen34 remote switch in the room to control the lamp.
I thought about that, and will probably do just that if I can't find what I want. I'd rather not deal with the hassle of remembering what I did with the old cord, storing it somewhere, and then swapping it back when we do get rid of the lamp at some point in the future.
Ah assumed the LIFX bulb was color changing.. Zen34 is nice for us adults but the color remote is cool!
Swapping the cord is trivial and you could always replace BUT I like @Ranchitat's idea better.. much simpler.
Seems like a few drops of super glue or epoxy would do the trick to immobilize the switch.
You can also address this at the toddler level. A pair of these, as well as duct tape to keep them in place, will prevent inadvertent manipulation of the in-line switch without limiting your ability to use it. Plus, they're fun.
Perhaps disconnect the cord from both sides of the switch and replace the switch with a normal unswitched cord connector
