I’m hell bent on getting this automation to work right now but am running into some snags.
The Third Reality sensor seems to be working just fine in the device menu when detecting vibration and lack of vibration. However, no matter what I’ve tried thus far, the Better Laundry app has been completely incapable of notifying me when the cycle is finished, despite the vibration sensor working properly (sensitivity tuned properly, device menu reacting correctly, etc.) For what it’s worth, I have also tried the Sequence Vibration options but that has neither worked, nor do I understand it haha.
Any tips are greatly welcomed!

I'm using a Vibration Hybrid driver in a virtual device. It allows me to set On/Off and have it sync to an acceleration attribute too.

The logs show:
- Turn ON the virtual driver (pseudoVibration dev:1078)
- The BLM Child App (app:1227) detects Vibration, active and starts the cycle.
- I have a virtual switch as a notification device in the BLM child (dev:1018) that is turned On, as well as a notification.
- Roughly 2 min later, I turn OFF the virtual driver.
- BLM Child App detects it and completes the tasks.
- The virtual switch is shut as well.
For the purposes of this test, I set up the Thresholds this way:

IF I turned my vibration sensor off too quickly, the App sends a "too quick" message:
What do your logs show?
I use the same vibration sensor on my dryer and have a rule written in Rule Machine. It works great. Basically trigger is vibration detected for 7 minutes. This takes out false vibration from the washer or other items. Then once vibration has stopped for a minute and half i send a notification to my phone through the Hubitat App, turn on two different lamps to green, and announce dryer is finished over Alexa.
This sounds like exactly what I want! Would you mind sharing screenshots of your actions, conditions, variables, etc? I’m having trouble navigating those menus in Rule Machine.
Thanks for the thorough response! I actually ditched the app for the time being and tried to reach a similar result in the Basic Rules and Rule Machine apps.
One of the main differences in our approaches with Better Laundry is that I don’t believe I used a Virtual driver/device. What is that and why does that make your automation work?
No issue. It took some adjusting and playing around with it but once I got it tuned in I am extremely happy with it.
One thing I did was I created a virtual switch which I call "Dryer Switch" and also a virtual contact sensor as you see in the rule. I don't know if the rule would work without the virtual switch I never tried it, but the switch is kinda the actuator so to say. It may work without if you want to try it, I just don't want to say for certain. The contact sensor was moved into Alexa and I use the open of the contact sensor to trigger the automation in Alexa for the notification and of course the close is to reset the Alexa automation. I have motion sensor to turn the lights on and off in my laundry room. I wrote my rule so that if the "Dryer Notification" rule in Hubitat has been triggered, when someone enters the laundry room to tend to the dryer the motion active from that sensor will turn off the lamps and have it ready to run the next time. I hope this makes sense and I didn't make it muddy for ya. If I did I would be more than happy to answer any questions.
I also have a very similar rule that I use with a power monitoring plug from Third Reality for my washing machine.
Below is a screenshot of my actual rule.
