Best way to associate 3 Inovelli Dimmers together and sync them?

I have 3 dimmers on 3 separate loads. The 3 different circuits make up all the living room lights. I just want to sync them all together so if I adjust any of the dimmers, they will all match each other.

I tried using the z-wave association tool which works the best, instant response, but I can only adjust dimming levels from 1 of the 3 switches, whichever I chose as the master I guess. Do I have to create 3 associations? Using each as a master?

I also tried mirror me which works much slower, and same thing, I can only use one switch as a master control.

Help me?

This is the best way. Its super fast.

On each of the dimmers add the other two dimmers in group 3 and 4 (always ensure group 1 has 01 associated, that is the hub). You will also have to adjust parameter 12 to be 1, this way the switch will only send the command when physically pushed or else you will create a loop on the z-wave mesh as they will keep sending the commands back and forth (hopefully I explained that right).

After that when one dimmer is turned on or has its level adjusted it will send the command to the other two dimmers to do the same.

I do this for my stairway in a 3 way setup and it works beautifully.

Sorry, but where in the heck do you find that stuff? My only options is to choose Source, Destination and Group #

Ya. So on each switch execute it a few times for each source. In the destination you put the other switches. It looks like you were able to do it once so just do it for the others as well. Group 4 sends on/off and 3 sends dimmer adjustment (or other way around) so thats why you also have to do it for each group.

You might have to use the Inovelli driver to adjust parameter 12 though. I would do that first before setting up all of the associations.

Bare with me, I've had Hubitat and these switches for about a week now lol. I'm new to all of this.

So far I created (2) associations. Group 2 and Group 4 using the same Source (Light1) and the same 2 destinations, (Light2) and (Light3)
I did this based on the instructions at inovellis web site. It doesn't mention group 3 at all. So do I use 1, 2, and 3, or just 3 and 4?

How do you adjust a driver? I'm extremely lost here.

So are you saying next step is to create more associations using the other 2 lights as the source?

This topic is a little more advanced so its understandable if you are lost.

This is probably the first thing you should learn and go do.

Install the driver provided by inovelli.

https://docs.hubitat.com/index.php?title=How_to_Install_Custom_Drivers

Then switch the devices to this driver. In the device properties change the type to your newly added driver and then you will see a bunch of new preferences. The "Association Behavior" is the one you will want to adjust. This is important to avoid issues.

Ya. 2 and 4 should work as well. Mine are setup with 3 and 4, but if they say 2 and 4 use that.

Correct,

Source -> Targets and Groups:

  • Light1 -> Light2 and Light3 on groups 2 and 4
  • Light2 -> Light1 and Light3 on groups 2 and 4
  • Light3 -> Light1 and Light2 on groups 2 and 4

That basically says, when something physically happens on light1 send the same command to light2 and light3 so they do the same.
